You can use the filter directly on the image but it's best to create a new transparent layer :wink:

For snow you want something larger than you would use for rain and with less directional blur. Too much directional blur and it starts to look like rain instead of snow.

In this case, use the various color choices to match the snow on the ground.

In deciding the direction of the blur, take into account the overall composition. In the above image, a blur to the left would probably fit best.

You can do two layers of snow if you wish. One behind the planes and one in front. That way you can get full snow effect without obscuring the planes too much.

You don't want to use no directional blur at all because then it will look like stars instead of snow.
