Phil_K's Big Campaign Thread

Poltava - Oo-er.....I'm not sure. All you should have to do is put the entire "IL2 Sturmovik 1946" folder (from the .zip folder) in the the "Ubisoft" folder on your C: drive. Everything should then take care of itself. Is anybody else having problems?

Lukeskywalker - there's plenty more Jap stuff on the way......

Dixiecapt - Thanks, mate - I'm looking forward to playing your VMF-213 campaign.

RealDarko - I'm not sure what you mean by "planning" briefings. With briefings I tend to think of the "voice" of the person giving the briefing and how they would say what they need to say. It's good to read how actual commanders in WW2 actually spoke - there are big national differences. For example, whereas Americans tended to be aggressively direct, the British tended to be euphemistic. The Germans often talked of war as a kind of sport, where as the Japanese were romantic and somewhat delusional. Just think of a character, and have that person speak all the way through.....

Here I am, following the Bastards of the Slot campaign for weeks on end, and I forget who's making it.

Obviously, the only solution is to get the campaign in my hands right now!

Yes badaboom.....there's some treats on the way.....

On another topic, has anybody had any frame-rate issues with "Day Of The Cobra"? I've had one person report stutters on the early missions. I'd just like to find out if this is typical or exceptional....

OK -here's the next one. Basically it's derived from my previous "Hell In The Pacific - Okinawa" campaign. I was originally going to update HITP-Oki around LAL_Rone's Okinawa map, but when Ship Pack 2 became available, I decided to rewrite it as 2 more historically accurate campaigns, one for the Hellcat and one for the Avenger, both with 24 missions. These campaigns will replace the original Hell in the Pacific - Okinawa, which will shortly be withdrawn, and I will create a new HITP completely from scratch.

The new campaigns feature an update to my Okinawa template, with a new Shuri Castle built with 4.09 objects. I have also reduced the Japanese AAA by about 1/3, as it was a bit excessive with the original campaign. This new campaign will still have plenty of flak, but should run more smoothly on lower end systems. It's shorter, punchier, and even more intense!

You'll need LAL_Rone's Okinawa map: viewtopic.php?t=5576

and Ship Pack 2: viewtopic.php?t=7579

I just tried this campaign and all I can say is: WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Confusedhock:
I have never seen so much detail in the ground objects before..
It is really amazing; this is what I am looking for in a sim.

I do wonder however what your system specs are: My framerate doesn't rise above 20.
