With the passing of Col. Don Blakeslee, we lost another great WWII hero. His Fourth Fighter Group as written about in 1000 Destroyed by Grover Hall was what ignited my interest in WWII aviation and Col. Blakeslee became a personal hero of mine. Nice obit.Obviously his daughter had some class in the matter. True one wants to eulogized a fallen hero, but why obfuscate their life by remembering only earlier accomplishments as opposed to the entire life.
