Moving progress from one install to another
#1

I've asked this before in other forums, but never seem to get a straight answer. Does anyone know exactly what files or folders in your IL2 install need/can be copied to a new or other existing install so that your progress in a campaign is the same, or if it can even be done.

I'm not worried too much about Dgen, but mainly a static campaign. I've tried the pilot file, but that doesn't seem to work. Just wondering if anyone around here had figured it out, as I'm sure a few around here have more than one install on their computer.

I think this info goes into your pilot folder in the Users folder in root il2

a clean install needs the following ... conf.ini; bldconf.ini; missions; users; paint schemes; il2.exe; Files; MODS; samples; wrapper; samples;
all this to take it back to your old configuration....

actually, once we have installed from he '46 DVD, we can make copies of the entire Ubisoft folder from our program files and put the copies in any drive....make a shorcut to the il2.exe and run from there....no need to re-install...whatever goes into the registry is not imporant

Thanks. The reason I've asked in this case is not a re-install, or back-up, but because I have both the sound mod, and the mod activator installed and still haven't figured out which I like better.

I'd just like to be able to play a few missions on my Fall Blau campaign on one install, and continue it on whichever one I decide I want to stick with. Thanks again, I'll give it a try.

Well, moving the User's folder doesn't seem to do it. I think that's what I've tried in the past. When clicking the button for Pilot Career, I just get the screen to choose a campaign as if there isn't one started.

All of the same campaigns/patches and such are loaded on each install, as one is a copy of the other. Anyone else have any suggestions?

have you selected the correct pilot when looking for your campaigns?

@ Fabian: Yeah, I delete the original users folder, and then copy the users folder from the other install. I only keep one pilot at a time.

So far, I've figured out how to copy the campaign over. I've copied the user's folder, the campaign folders for whatever countries I'm flying for, and the entire Dgen folder.

The only thing that sucks about it, is if using the Unified Install, I lose all of those language fixes. Oh well, at least I can continue my campaign progress.
