Philippines v2.0 texts.txt UPDATE 11.2008

Thanks for your suggestion. You are correct, the installer does put in an all.ini file at \Mods\MapMods\maps. The file does refer to all maps, new and old. However, when I delete the other all.ini file at \IL-2 Sturmovik 1946\Users, the program just creates another one. As a result, only the old maps show up in the mission builder menu. It seems to me that something else must be changed or I've had the misfortune of purchasing a "mod-proof" copy of IL-2.

Best regards,

Riptide

Try this :

Open \Mods\MapMods\maps\all.ini and paste this line to the end :

Philippines dlv_Philippines/load.ini

it should fix your problem.

delvpier,

I opened the all.ini file in \Mods\MapMods\maps and found that it already has a "Philippines dlv_Philippine/load.ini" line. However, I added another such line at the end of that file as you suggested. I ran IL-2 1946 and opened the mission builder. The map menu did not include the Philippines or The Slot, which is also installed. I shut off IL-2 and looked in the directories. I found that a new all.ini had been created in \IL-2 Sturmovik 1946\Users\ and that a new \users\doe\ subdirectory with a new settings.ini inside has also been created. It seems that there is an instruction somewhere that insists on there being a all.ini in the \users directory. Maybe those instructions are coming from another configuration file somewhere or maybe they are written in the code of the IL-2 program itself. I don't know, but my IL-2 1946 V4.09m remains "mod-proof".

Riptide...are you using Vista?
Have you got authority to make changes...is the il2 folder Read only?
is it installed in program files?

fabianfred,

I am using MS XP Home Edition. IL-2 is in the \Program Files directory. I have set the IL-2 directory and subdirectories to not be read only.

In your IL-2 directory, did you originally have the all.ini file in the \users subdirectory? When you installed your mods, you renamed the original all.ini, right? The only all.ini you have now is in the \Mods\MapMods\maps subdirectory, right?

When I move the all.ini. to \Mods\MapMods\maps\, the program creates a new all.ini in the \users subdirectory. That all.ini contains the following code:
  • doe1 John Mad Doe
    [current]
    0

It also creates a new \users\doe1\ subdirectory with a settings.ini that contains the default key settings. When I modify the all.ini to include the instructions on loading the maps, including the mod-maps, and leave it in the \users subdirectory, I get only the old maps.

How do you modify the mods all.ini file to include your settings subdirectory, i.e. \doe?

    Best regards,

    Riptide

Riptide, I don't understand quite well your problem...

Yes there are two files with same name "all.ini"... but they are absolutely different...

First all.ini in Users folder is created at installation by original game, it is related to settings of... user

Leave it in peace in his folder !

Second all.ini is created by Mod installation in Mapmods\maps\ , whatever the way you used, Mod Activator, Sound Pack, AAA unified installer. This one gets the name of maps, with, for each one :

name_of_map name_of_folder_map/load.ini

If you used AAA installer for Philippines, it has added one line to this file for Philippines...

So what's your problem ?

In case you lost your Mapmods\maps\all.ini :

Delvpier, Installed no problem. The inclusions of the various towns/villiages and harbors looks great. The blending of colors and textures is really attractive.

Great Job

delvpier,

I have followed your instructions. I reinstated the original all.ini in \users. I have confirmed that the all.ini in \MODS\MAPMODS\maps includes the "Philippines dlv_Philippines/load.ini" line. The problem is that when I run IL-2 and go to the mission builder, the Philippines Map does not show up as an option on the map menu. I really would like to get your map to work on my computer. Do you have any other suggestions?

Let's start with basic things

Could you post here :

1/ content of Mapmods\maps\all.ini

2/ a screenshot with content of folder Mapmods\maps\

3/ a screenshot of ingame FMB with Load Map menu developped

Only ONE maps/all.ini is allowed by the game. The first it finds, is the one used.

Maybe, another maps/all.ini (without the line concerning the Philippines) is somewhere in your MODS folder to mess it up ?

It happend a few times to me so I deleted all copies of this file expect the one with the complete list

NB: this map has no problem for me too Big Grin thx for the work !

2) Screenshot of contents in Mapmods\maps directory

Unable to attach my screenshots. I found this statement in Aircraft Arcade's FAQ:
"Can I post Images?
Images can indeed be shown in your posts. However, there is no facility at present for uploading images directly to this board. Therefore you must link to an image stored on a publicly accessible web server, e.g. http://www.some-unknown-place.net/my-picture.gif. You cannot link to pictures stored on your own PC (unless it is a publicly accessible server) nor to images stored behind authentication mechanisms such as Hotmail or Yahoo mailboxes, password-protected sites, etc. To display the image use either the BBCode [img] tag or appropriate HTML (if allowed)."

However, the contents of the Mapmods\maps directory is as follows:
_Tex
dlv_Philippines
It_new_italy_DF
Slot
all.ini
Leggimi.txt
Readme.txt
TheSlotInsertini.txt

3) Screenshot of in game Full Mission Builder with Load Map Menu

Once again, I can't post screenshots. However, I have mapmods installed for the Philippines, The Slot and Italy, but none of those maps are offered on the FMB Load Map Menu. Ofcourse, "Italy Online" does appear, but that came from Ubi Soft.

Smile ... same question

if yes, make a search for all "all.ini" in C:/Program Files/Ubisoft/il2 Sturmovik/ including subfolders

delvpier, fabianfred,

C:\Program Files\Ubisoft\IL-2 Sturmovik 1946\Mods\MapMods\maps\dlv_Philippines
