Hi Guys.
I had to re-install il2 1945, went into configuration files and changed Hardware Shaders to 1 and water settings to 3 but when in game the water is still basic.
Prior to re-install the water was perfect on these settings and I have also set all other settings to original config but these also dont appear to have changed after saving.
Please help.

do you are running the game on vista???

make sure you right click on the Il-2 folder -> properties -> security -> edit -> user (your current account) -> click the box full control -> ok -> now change you config settings


P.S this works for any program on Vista that you might have problems with changing files.

P.S.S never heard of Il-2 1945

This happened to me some time ago. Some predefined video configurations from game setup utility, let you set higher configurations that others. For example, if you chosse the video configuration as "default", depending of your graphics card, you be able to set some values of water, but no all. Try change the predefined video configurations just you found one that let you set higest water (no always maximun). In my case, it was nvidia 6800 settings.
