wav file strangeness
#1

Hi All--

I'm running version .93 of the mod and I can't figure out what's happening with two particular sets of wavs in the "sample" folder: the Packard Merlin sounds in game are always the same as the merlin_xx sounds no matter what I do, and the BMW 801 sounds can not be changed or modified in any way after the installation of the 190 A-3. I can put completely different wav files in the 801 slots, but the ingame sounds will always be the same for the FW Antons. I can modify the merlin_xx sounds but it's as if there's no unique packard option.

I've double checked that I have the correct preset files and all of that, too.

I've experimented with making sure all the playback rates are uniform, etc....I just can't figure this out.

No other sets of wavs are giving me these problems...I can modify them at will and the changes will be reflected in game...

Can anyone tell me what might be the problem? Thanks in advance!

I don't know that much but FW190 A-3 mod have separate sound files inside FW190 A-3 mod folder and sound is taken from there .
I am also running on 0.93 sound mod but even thou there are separate sound preset files for Mustang , Hurri and Spitfire I have unfortunately only one sound available for all three planes .
I tried everything with preset files but no luck , since I installed every new released AC-Installer with new "buttons" file things are getting mixed because latest AC-Installer is probably made for SFX mod which is now in unified installer download .
I am myself beginning to be a little bit confused about sound mod as it looks like 0.93 mod is no longer supported with "buttons" file .
If I misunderstood what your trying to figure out , I am sorry .
In my case , I am using lovely griffon engine sound wav files for all three planes Mustang , Hurri and Spit by renaming griffon preset file to Merlin-Rolls-Royce and truly wish we could use separate Merlins sounds preset files for those three aircrafts .
It's all about "buttons" file , which is impossible for me to read or changing anything in it.

Thank you Holy Grail--
You understood what I'm trying to figure out and I'm sure you're on to something with the "button" incompatibility. I also have been installing things piecemeal and am probably going to have to reinstall everything with unified installer and then mess with sound files afterwards without conflicts ( hope). Thanks for your thoughts...
