I set up IL2 in a new folder, downloaded 4.08, downloaded sound, wrapper and ac installer, downloaded 190 d11/13. I ran IL2 and saw that I now had 4.08 but then I immediately lose the game and revert to my desktop. help ...

Look for a folder called buttons if you find it delete it

Hi Bigjoe

If you can find what percentage it crashes at, you can then search the forum for those types of crash eg. 60%. Before you try that, it might be worth reinstalling the wrapper and latest A/C installer after patches and mods.

Edit: I see you have another post saying you have 2 folders of IL2 - this might be the patch not being correctly directed to the IL2 installation - check the properties of the 2 folders 1 should be large 3gb+, and if i'm right the 2nd would be smaller. if this is the case, delete the smaller and reinstall the patch to the correct game installation. someone said in the other post not to install in program files... ignore this suggestion - is perfectly ok to use the program files folder.

If it's going straight to desktop, normally it's one of 2 things.
Your resolution is wrong for your monitor...
or
Your config.ini is corrupt/incomplete.

In either case, re-run the IL2setup prgm in the root folder of IL2 to re-build your config.ini file.

That should fix your issues.

Hi Guys.
To find "Buttons" folder go to C:\Programes Files\Ubisoft\IL-2 Sturmovik 1946\Files\gui\game\Buttons
You will need to Delete before installing 4.08M patch but make sure you make a BACK UP folder first before removing.
TIP: When I tried to extract 4.08M Patch,Activator and wrapper using WINRAR Extract Here I got acces denied if this happens to you try pressing Run as Administrator instead it worked for me.
