Don't painic= I got great advice over at Pacific Fighters when it happened to me:

Run the IL2set.exe. Under the Video tab check "Multitexture" and "Combine". That should fix it.

Luckily I kept the post! Big Grin

what grapich card are wou running?

check if you are in perfect mode

I got this when entering prefect mode....

I then selected the Nvidia Gforce 6800/6600.... option on the Video-tab in il2setup.exe
and downloaded the 180.43_geforce_winvista_64bit_english_beta.exe to my grapich card (which is a Nvidia Gforce 8800 GTS 512 running on a Vista 64 Home PC)

Tragedy occurs in the middle east as a fleet of oil tankers simultaneously leak!

Annoying the annoying, so you don't have to.

Junkers - I've never seen just the water turn black. I am not sure the fix that jamesdietz posted will work for that. If it doesn't post what video card you are using and the contents of your conf.ini file from IL-2 and I'll see if I can figure it out. You could also try posting at the Ubi Community Help Forum the people over there are pretty good at figuring these things out.

Thanks jamesdietz, that sounds like it would work. I managed to get it sorted before I read your post but thanks very much all the same. Your advice will make useful reference material for many people in the future. I fixed it by comparing the conf.ini file with the backup. Some parameters had been changed, though I don't know how. Thanks again.
