New Jet Engine Sounds! New Startup Sound Included!

The me 262 had a two cycle engine (one per engine) located in the front cone. there was a pull starter to start each engine. This is why the engine start on these sounded like rattling tin cans. I guess the developers were trying to emulate the sound of a two-stroke snow blower or grass edger.

I used to be an aircraft mechanic and this sounds great! now one other thing is that the shut down on some engines have a distinctive sound as well. it is much like the start up you include only in reverse, and it takes a little longer to wind down. It is like someone simply pulled the plug. It is really fuel cutoff that kills the engine.

On start it might be neat to be able to hear the tick-tick tick of the spark igniters, however no spark igniters on shutdown.

(just a thought)

Great work

Thanks for the feedback! Big Grin But unfortunatly there are no sound files that support engine shutdown... so I can't make one for it. And unfortunatly in the game I cannot make each jet engine sound unique because every jet plane in the game uses the same sound file... So this was the best I could do for the best of both worlds.

AIRdomination Wrote:These aren't exactly those god-like perfect jet sounds like you've seen in some videos. The game does have its limits, and so does my freeware software.... but I can almost guarantee this is better than the originals with the soundmod.
....

The default jet engine startup sounded like vibrating soda cans.... and didn't exactly seem right. So I made my own here.

Thanks for you work! These are really good jet sounds. I've put them into service 8)
As for the starter sounds... Your sample is quite a modern one, but it won't ruin immersion, imho.
Keep up, mate! Big Grin

Put the .wav samples in:

IL-2 Sturmovik 1946/Files/Samples

Put the text .prs file in:

IL-2 Sturmovik 1946/Files/presets/sounds
