NVIDIA GEFORCE 7600GS
#1

What would the best settings be for the game setup settings and video card settings to run IL2 smoothly? Any info would be greatly appreciated, I have tried to read all thru this forum but I am not finding or am missing a good answer.

Thank You(anyone) for advice :?

I got the same card and would like to know the answer to this also :wink: You would think with almost 200 peps looking at your thread someone could help you or give you an idea Idea I will PM you my settings but im sure I could get more from mine than I get and it works pretty good for me. Maybe a moderator will eventually try to get you an answer :?: Good luck and I hope what I send you helps a little :wink:

The 7600 isn't as good as the 7800, but it's still a good card for Il2.

In the Nvidia (or Nhancer or RivaTuner or whatever program you use to adjust the card settings) control panel, try using

4xAA Multisampling
Gamma correction on
Multisampling transparency AA
AF Application controlled
Texture filtering set to "Quality"
Negative LOD bias clamp
Conformant texture clamp on
Driver extension limit off or set to 0

Back up your current Config.ini file in Il2 (always back up files before altering the working file!)

Here is the Open GL section of the Config file and I think this will work for you.

[Render_OpenGL]
TexQual=3
TexMipFilter=2
TexCompress=2
TexFlags.UseDither=1
TexFlags.UseAlpha=0
TexFlags.UseIndex=0
TexFlags.PolygonStipple=1
TexFlags.UseClampedSprites=0
TexFlags.DrawLandByTriangles=1
TexFlags.UseVertexArrays=1
TexFlags.DisableAPIExtensions=0
TexFlags.ARBMultitextureExt=1
TexFlags.TexEnvCombineExt=1
TexFlags.SecondaryColorExt=1
TexFlags.VertexArrayExt=1
TexFlags.ClipHintExt=0
TexFlags.UsePaletteExt=0
TexFlags.TexAnisotropicExt=1
TexFlags.TexCompressARBExt=1

TexFlags.TexEnvCombine4NV=1
TexFlags.TexEnvCombineDot3=1
TexFlags.DepthClampNV=1
TexFlags.SeparateSpecular=1
TexFlags.TextureShaderNV=1

HardwareShaders=1

Shadows=2
Specular=2
SpecularLight=2
DiffuseLight=2
DynamicalLights=1
MeshDetail=2
VisibilityDistance=2

Sky=2
Forest=2
LandShading=3
LandDetails=2

LandGeom=3
TexLarge=1
TexLandQual=3
TexLandLarge=1

VideoSetupId=17
Water=2
Effects=1
ForceShaders1x=0

PolygonOffsetFactor=-0.15
PolygonOffsetUnits=-3.0

As for the 3D gunners (found under [game] section in the Config file), I could not use them with my 6800 Ultra, but could with my 7950GT, they do use up resources and you may have to set 3dgunners=0. The new clouds (Typeclouds=1) seemed to have minimal performance impact, but certainly looked better than the old clouds.

I have a 7600GT on AGP. Yes they made one for AGP. I have great FPS with the AGP.
I followed the steps in the link below and got great results. Follow edit notes as well. XPLauncher is a good idea to run IL2 mostly on 2nd processor if you have multiple processors and running XP.

Yes, I was using this and works well. I was just seeing if there was an idea to get higher quality without sacrificing too much performance. I tried the conf.ini above and that is the graphics which would make me smile all day but it became a little stuttery, so I returned to the settings that you show in the thread, just made forest=1 instead of=0 Just wish it would run this smooth and see the extra trees you see on excellant-perfect. I will keep watching thread and tweaking. Thank You All!!! for your responses and help 8)

Just installed a GeForce 7600 GS and it altered all my conf.ini settings Sad Can anyone suggest settings for this card to produce "the best" game output (apart from the info above).
