Bonjour!

I would like to just add my support for your work. Smile

Campaigns featuring your future beauty over France or the Med are ready to welcome her...

Take your time, have fun with this project, and do not hesitate to ask for detailed information.

As Claymore suggested, the Docavia book about the D-520, with English texts and plenty of pictures, could be of interest to you. Tongue

If you wish, I am sure that some French members would also be willing to send you photos of the D-520s still existing in museums or restoration shops in France; post in French forums, you may be surprised by the treasures that exist...

Anyway this is a great project. THANK YOU SO MUCH to reveal it and to update us here. :!:

Cheers! Big Grin

I started doing exactly the same thing you're doing about two weeks ago.

I just have so much going on with work and everything else that I simply don't have time to do this.

You're about 10 time farther than I am, twice as fast. If I find anything that will help I'll let you know.

I found a great set of drawings online, that even show some cutaway detail, and some others that show cockpit layout and other things. If you need them, I'll post, time permitting.

My thoughts have leaned over to modifying an existing model (haven't had the time to start), after reading some threads where people have done this with "mesh hacks".

Perhaps one could:

1. Mesh hack the front end of a LaGG-3 (Klimov 105 is based on Hispano-Suiza 12Y series) the shape, cutouts, louvers and pipes are basically the same. Put it on an IAR80

2. Change the shape of the IAR 80 to match the profile of the D520. I saw a thread where somebody corrected the Dihedral and shape of the P-40's body to look correct.

3. Add the centerline cannon from the MS406 model.

4. Map the 3D for skinning

5. Fix a mountain of bugs, and that's it Big Grin

Confusedhock:

Anyway, I share your interest in this project and will help in any way my limited skills allow

Hey lads, thx so much for your support. It means the world really!

B50, great idea about the hacks, but I rather do a new plane all together since I get to learn 3D modelling. That way there is something in it for me, aside from the fact that I might get to fly the D.520 in some distant future on, for instance, WoE server which I like very much!

S! all and hope you find the time B50 to get going again.
