New Corsair Gunsight Recticle
#1

this mod gives the corsair a more realistic gunsight recticle.

the RAR file:

Edit: Yes, it is similar to the original, but the vertical line was replaced by notches in the original, for an unknown reason, and there was an added "100 mil." marker added at the top.

Also, I'm sorry If I deceived anyone into thinking that it was a completely new gunsight, I am still working on that.

Hey!, the reticle looks the same. I saved the Mk8 folder into the MODS folder, should I save it somewhere else?

Cheers!

Are you flying a RN corsair?

This only affects USN corsairs (f4U-1A, D, and C)

the Corsair MkI II, and IV are unaffected.

Nice gunsight. Incidentally, a friend of mine owns a vintage USN Mk. 8 gunsight and the reticle on his sight looks exactly like the one in the game, including the "100 mils". Perhaps there was some variation during it's long production run. (I believe it was made well into the 1950s)

That got me to thinking. The only thing I don't like about the Mk. 8 sight in the game is that it's too small. The Mk. 8 sight had a 100 mil radius so an A6M5 would fill about 36 mils of the sight at .3km (about 1000 feet) In the sight in the game the A6M5 fills almost the entire center ring of the sight (equivalent to 100 mils) at that range.

Perhaps it's not practical to make the sight that big. Anyway your sight looks great.

stratodog, about how much of the gunsight should be covered, so that I have a reference for the size of the real recticle

Edit, NVM... just realized I goofed.

36mil... lol

I am working at finding a way to enlarge the sight, but for the moment, I can't find it. this may take awhile.
