Anybody working on a Ki-61-II?
#1

I hope this hasn't been covered too many times (I seem to repeatedly step in well worn paths of conversation). But I'm wondering if anyone is working on some Ki-61 variants? Their are a lot of people who love to fly the "Super Swallow" and if I had the "Mad Skills" or even "mild techniques of facsimile" I would set to work on this one myself...but alas I don't (I'm good at sound stuff). A Ki-61 II would help bridge the speed gap in the PTO (HA140=1500hp) or even some "what-if" Ki-61's like the "Hein Fastback" (bubble canopy) would be fun...

Whats the word??? Thank you good people. Smile

A Hien fastback could be the foundation of a Ki-100 Otsu... or vice versa.

Japan needs additional aircraft almost as much as the British do, just a shame the Japanese designs don't get as much attention in here

But looking forward to any mods out there

This would be a reverse of what Kawasaki actually did; add radiator from Ki.61 to Ki.100, cut off the Mitsubishi radial and replace with the Ki.61's nose. The Ki.61's pit would probably also be required- seems more accurate for a liquid-cooled bird. This would take care of the visuals though possibly a few minor details would have to be added/changed as well. Result the razorback version, the bubble top would obviously require more surgery.
Best person to supply the required info on the Ki.61s is undoubtedly Billfish.
