So as the title says, i had problems with mods on vista. I installed everything thats needed on il2 to run mods, the ac thingy, the sound mod, everything. Then i start up the game, crashes at 5%.

-I got 4.08m installed.

-I ran everything as admin when i installed it. Didnt help.

-I tried to reistall il2 in just C\, not program files, didnt help.


-I have tried to run il2 with mods for more then 8 times. I reinstalled il2 over 8 times....



I really need help with this. I nice, helpfull guide, step by step, FOR VISTA ONLY( or not ), on how to install mods the proper way.



-Also, i have tried about every guide and stuff i can find here. Still didnt work...

you should download the unified installer

(The link is inoperative)

(4 parts)
install it over a fresh installation of 4.08m
there you have every important mod included

after this you can install further planes, using the aircraftinstaller (atm version 3.0 i guess)

I have tried that, i have vista home prem 32bit, it didnt work.


-Also, i am going to try thati nstaller now. If it works iwht 64bit, it should work with my 32bit right?



EDIT: I downloaded the 4 parts( they are still downloading now ). At the warning for the installation, i dont under stand this part:

2. If you have IL-2 installed, Copy your current IL-2 1946 game folder and rename the new folder. Next, Delete the FILES and MODS folders. The new install will copy 4.08 files allowing any Direct 2 Drive user to be compatible with the mod.

I did buy the game from direct 2 drive, but i dont understand what i am supposed to do here, do i just delete those 2 folders? Or do i make a new folder, put the game folder in there, then delte the 2 folders?

Im confused...

u have installed sound mod and everything, what is everything?
its not good to install 2000 modes at ones, then it is 99% risk it will not run.

have u also installed this one UNIFIED INSTALLER DOWNLOAD from here (The link is inoperative) ?

but any why i know somewhere on this site, there will explain why it crash at 5% where i dont know
5% and 60 % are the most comment crashis,

then maby its an alternative to tray 4.09mb, u are using the versions switcher right ?

-Everytime i tried to run the game with mods, i only had the mod activator, sound mod, and that fix with language installed, and the wrapper and the ac installer. Thats all that i had installed. It crashed everytime at 5%.

Like i said, i tried to install mods with just those things, over 8 times, each time i had to reinstall all of il2 and patch to 4.08m...

As for the switcher, i tried it between my 5th or 6th install. It didnt help but crash...

i have tryed il2 whit mods, on vista 64 & 32 bit, xp 64 & 32 bit, no problem running,

its more like, when u install lots of mod at ones it will crash, or installing in wrong order.

Thats where im stuck now....

And the entire 8 times, i have tried to install the ac,wrapper,sound mod, mod activator, ect. in the correct order as posted. I did, it crashed. the secodn time,i tried again. Crashed.

The other 6 times, i tried in any order possible, crashed. Im not sure if its the order...becuase any way i do it, it crashes.

try that one, over a clean install of il2, and realy read what it says on topic for it, so u dont miss e anything, i started whit that one, i hade two problems, one, was that i used the il2.exe instead of the il2fb.exe after i figurated that ut, i hade the loading screen in Russia, but that was an easy fix,
there is a English fix, i dont know really right now where it is, but just use the search and search for english fix, many have complained over that there game have converted to be communist after the install

So basically, all i do is run the installer to the game folder?

Or is there something extra becuase i read on the topic, but im kinda confused on what to do when the downloads are done.

so long u do what it says on the topic, and i dont eider understand what he are saying about that direct driver download, u have bogth ur game from, i dident have that problem cos i use the dvd version, i dont know what the different is.

i dont know what u meen whit running a installer as admin?
if u have privilege to install program on u pc, and have no problem whit that before , then i dont think u need to bother about that.

And thanks ETQ I have changed my il2fb.exe properties (comp modus=on to off), stupid of me, in my il2 test directorie I had the comp. modus switched off........next time I have to look better :lol:

remember, if you want to install new planes, donloaed the aircraftinstaller 3.0 before
otherwise game will crash on launch
