"Game represents 2 parts of the conflict, namely Germany and the USA."

Why only Germany and USA? Why not France, Britain or Russia?

Due to the small planeset that will be released initially, they have chosen an airforce that had a small selection of distinct aircraft. That way they at least have a chance of representing something small, but representing it well. All the other nationalities are to be added in stages, beginning soon after release.

This is a departure from the release-style of the Il-2 series, where they try (and fail) to represent the entire conflict in one hit. Leaving out key aircraft and then adding others willy-nilly in a long and agonising line of profitless patches.

Rise of Fligh looks amazing, but folks with poor old PCs like mine won't be able to play it (I can't even max out Il-2 w/out the new effects Cry ), so I'm loking forward to a WWI mod. Even if a coule of planes get modded in, just for some diversity.

just to let everyone know that rise of flight is a new game not a mod! second anyone complaining about lack of planes not one of you have probably even tried to model for il2 before so no talking unless you are giving information, offering help to make those planes you want or just letting me know about the few planes that i mentioned. These are not all the planes but the few i want help with.

lastly I really want todo this but sofar no one other than Magpie and Howlin had offered help. Magpie always offers help even if something might be impossible so I ~S~ you Magpie and Howlin!

im not trying to cut anyone down but honestly if have have tried to make a plane or mod before you know its a lot of work. so when someone says i want this plane and that plane you should help to make mods, seriously.

you guys know that it will take a long time todo this and I need help to make it faster.

Hey Man...

I'll help,I got nothing but Time....Tic Toc , Tic Toc , Tic Toc...

I'm not sure what I could do for you though,
I'm comfortable building Mission-Templates in the FMB ,mergeing and stuff with mission files ete).
I have built working Campaigns ,single missions and Coop's.

Thanks to a couple members of AAA, I now have a firm understanding of the QMBPlus.

I can also Skin Aircraft, as long as I have a Template
I have never worked from a void although I am willing to try.

I personally know nothing about building aircraft models,or anything else for that matter.

I have really nothing to offer but Time...

What I posted above is only for you to see that I can accomplish tasks that I set out to do.I can learn from my mistakes and over come most difficulty's that are presented to me .I learned mostly how to do everything by reading , and playing around on my own I don't usually ask to many questions as usually all info is available to read.

I'm not asking to be shown how to do anything,
but I am willing to learn and to devote time to learn anything.

I will help out in any way no matter how small. You may send me a PM if you like.

If you don't need in-experienced help I do understand and hold no ill feelings,
I have a whole new World to explore in IL2 thanks to AAA and all the Modders.

There are all kinds of things I could do to help out around here in other ways or other area's.

As I said, I'm happy to help with the 3D work - would happily take on a side project considering the looming finish line for the Whirlwind.

The one factor that would need addressing is a suitable map. So, you'd need someone to look into that side of things. (can't have an unscared France to fly on, need those trenches Wink)

But I'm all for the development of a team for this sort of thing.

Seems a little bizarre to select the US though, that sounds more like a marketing decision.
The US were hardly in WWI, let alone in terms of an airforce. Most yanks flew for the French - that Indian Head escadrille (Lafayette?)...

IMHO, would have been much better to include the relevant participants in the WW1 air war - England, France, Germany... And then include the US as they developed the sim. *Shrugs*

It's a bit like making the PTO of WW2 with Japan and Australia initially, and then including the US and UK once the sim had been developed....

Jagr - I'm more than happy to help if i can. I can't do the 3d modelling, but i have a fair amount of reference material on WW1 aircraft from all the combatants if you need performance data.

Not just yes...but HELL YES!!! I would love to see it! In the mean time....heres what I use for my WW1 kicks. Yes, its CFS3 based.....but dont let that fool you. This is not just a mod but a total conversion of the sim.

Rise of Flight is also for some reason only USA, Britain and German.

WTF NO FRANCE?!

yes its true they don't have a France even though WWI was fought over France and Germany + some England.

guess US of A must be magical to be in a FS that is from 1914 to 1916 with a French add-on of 1914-1918 releasing after the game.

There isn't even an AI French plane in the first release. only some ground.

I wanted this to be a visual mod mainly just for kicks and all but it's to big of a project to go alone (with a little help that i have). and no one here offered help but Magpie and Howling so I will drop this one and work on the next project

P.S wanna lock or delete this? up to you moderators.

Jagr, I wouldn't give up on this, you must remember those with the ability are few and far between, those with time, are even further between, and those willing to learn are there in abundance, and make great workers.

Look, at the moment I reckon starting with a goal is great, but as anyone here will tell you, if too ambitious, it may well fail.

I suggest we start small. Two, three aircraft, and a customised map. Infact at the moment, we have exactly enough for that.

I am fortunate to live just down the road from a large collection of flying replica WWI fighters, which is getting added to on a yearly basis, from a whole fleet of DR.1's, to a Sopwith Camel, to Bristol Fighter, to god knows what else...

Now, talk is cheap, but we have enough, as I said, for a small start, but it would be enough (remember CFS1 had only a Sopwith Camel...), for a small start.

So, we have some great offers for resources, a offer of a FM'er (can't do nothing without one of those), a couple of 3D guys, and a fellow who's offering to learn to do the map. Ok, well, take that, add it to the knowledge base we have, and we're set to go.

IAF.116~Jagr, don't worry about RoF's limited planeset for initial release. The Devs have stated many, many times that more flyables and different nationalities are to follow .Look how many flyables Il-2 had when it first came out

As for adding biplane action to the Il-2 series, why not consider a few that are appropriate to ww2? You'd have a great choice of aircraft.

Here are some gorgeous Japanese ones for China: http://uncleted.jinak.cz/pdf/jap_biplane.pdf

SCW fans would love an He-51. Personally I'd love to see a better I-15 than the franken one that is around. The Finns could use a Gloster Gauntlet. The Fairey Swordfish is just crying out to be developed. And don't even get me started on the Hs-123....

Lock and Delete? Naw. Look at the Controllable ships thread, I took up the project at the 3rd page, I don't see why people would be against this... Personally I think the Idea of a WWI conversion is great, take the good parts of IL-2 and make them better. It'd also be neat to see some naval action, in the later war didn't they have merchant ships that were converted to carriers? Might not even need anything new, the Russian ships are all preatty old, but then again it might be asking too much.

Whatever you decide to put in there I guess, just be aware that carriers would be neat IMO  .
