The missions/campaigns do not go into the MODS folder. But some missions here at AAA may require a certain MOD, so check the readme.

The mission files go into the [game root directory]\Missions\Single\[xx] directory, whre xx is the two-letter country code of the nation for which you would fly (i.e., DE=Germany, GB=Great Britain, US=US Army, UN=US Navy, etc). Within that country directory there may also be subdirectories that sort missions by aircraft or other criteria.

The campaign files go into the [game root directory]\Missions\Campaign\[xx] directory, whre xx is the two-letter country code of the nation for which you would fly (i.e., DE=Germany, GB=Great Britain, US=US Army, UN=US Navy, etc). Within that country directory there will probably be existing folders that hold the campaign files.

The missions or campaigns that you download may include other files, such as historical skins that the mission designer wants to install with the mission, the readme file in the download will tell you where these files go.

DCG campaigns are a little more complicated; if that is the issue for you let me know and I will run through thaose as well.

"The missions or campaigns that you download may include other files, such as historical skins that the mission designer wants to install with the mission, the readme file in the download will tell you where these files go. "

Thanks for your insight and sharing your knowledge on this subject. But, I have noticed a 'difference' in the instructions supplied ('detailed' to none). From a newbee perspective, there is no 'pattern' to follow. Where do all of the ancillary bits go? How would I know that? I've tried the 'corollary' approach, I probably had a better chance of winning the lottery!

I'm sure after the 100th download and install, I'll look back and wonder how I couldn't have seen the obvious! But for now, the obvious is obscured by the actual! I don't think anyone can give a 'one size fits all' answer, there appear to be too many variables! But try to look at it from 'our' end, nothing but variables!

There seems to be a need for some 'standards' in the community for this. What a pity, someone out there makes a 'killer' mission, and kills it because of a lack of instructions, so that only those with the 'knowledge' can implement it! Everyone loses then! Just my opinion......... and 'opinions' are like..............

Help!

I agree that is not easy, by any means. As you say though, after you do it a few times it will become a familiar process.

A couple suggestions to help you get started:

1-try some campaigns that have sef-installers. For example, one of the best I have ever seen is Chris_Blair's White Sun Blue Sky. And it has an installer. You can find it at http://mission4today.com/index.php?name ... ls&id=2166

2-I am working on a campaing for the Slot map that will have instructions for install the campaign and skins. i would love to have someone beta test the instructions. Let me know if you have the time or inclination.

I'm pretty new to IL-2 1946, but not a total newbie to modding games. I've downloaded a couple Single Missions/Dogfight Missions. I am able to place the files in my game so that the mission is availble to choose, but once selected the Aming button is dead + I can't choose my aircraft. If I go right to the Fly button + load it, there is NO PLANE at all.

I downloaded the Ice Road mission, and put the files into my 1946\Missions\Single\DE\Ice Road folder. (I created the Ice Road folder.)

To date, I've learn how to edit the .mis file to allow me to fly ONE of the many "flyable aircraft in a mission. My questions:

1. Should the downloaded mission be flyable AS IS?

2. Is there an edit, or edits, that I can make to the .mis file that allows ALL the aircraft (on one OR both sides) flyable?

3. Should I be placing the files into a different folder?

Thanks in advance for any help given. Smile
