A pack of enhanced FireSmoke effects goodies in one install.

StarGazer ,

I am running so far in to problem with removing 2D engine damage smoke because if I remove that smoke I can't get any other 3D smoke to substitute for engine damage smoke .
Tried so many smoke configuration but so far none of them will touch this 2D smoke issue.
If this is not possible , we will have to leave 2D engine damage smoke alone , as it would be otherwise bad not to know that in reality engine is actually smoking but we can't see it .
Unfortunately , yes , one of the intermittent smoke disadvantage is that two fires on the same plane will run animation at the same time .
All plane parts after midair explosion falling to the ground will have also same effect , that's why the intermittent fire on and off entries are done in such a way to prevent repeating too often so sky is not blinking like a Christmas tree
I wish I know how to make game files handling each fire separatedly .
These things can't be discussed here because it would likely require Java programming .
That would be dream , different engine fire , fuel tank fire , midair explosion fire etc.......

I looked more closely on the lenght of the plane crashed parts black mushroom and it is about the same time lenght as the bail out pilot on the ground before he disappear .

Will se what happen next , there are certainly some limitations which we have to deal with it .

Sincerely,
HolyGrail

Hi HG, here are a few shots of the angled smoke effects. It seems to occur on all types.

I very much like the white smoke, although it seems to terminate very abruptly a short distance behind the aircraft and when in motion, gives the impression that it is chasing it.

I understand that it is a work in progress and by no means final. So I just put these images forward as an informal beta-tester.

Did you used latest Fly's smoke mod ? I know Fly!'s latest smoke mod have this angled smoke coming from planes and I don't know if he's going to fix it or not .
I get smoke coming out in my mod normal straight way 99.999 % of the time just like in the first post video .
I don't have or using any white smoke in my mod except for very small tiny fuel leak .

@Grom29 , it's Fly!'s ~2 3D Smoke-n-Fire FX mod in those pictures , what should I finish ? :lol:

Made it like this:

EASY VERSION:

- When engine is damaged than white smoke
- When engine is dead than black trail

HARD VERSION:

-When engine is damaged white smoke trail with some light black blowns
-When engine is dead than hard black trails with blowns

What do you think?

StarGazer Wrote:Regarding the intermittent animated fire. One thing I notice is that when an aircraft has two fires going, they will "blink" on and off at the same time. Is there a possiblility in the programming to have each fire be independent of the other? I know that there are complexities involved but I thought I would just ask.

Cheers,

I know exactly what you mean StarGazer , I've made small video of what just did happend to me today Confusedhock:
That was veeeeery interesting , both fires didn't started at the same time but both got the same intermittent sequence and then BANG ! game code did put one fire off and kept the other one on
There is still some kind of randomness in handling plane fire , that's for sure .
Yeah , the same intermittent sequence could be a little bit annoying at the moment but then everything got back to different outcome
Can't do anything about separating two fires going on the same plane .

@ Grom29
working on animated oil blotch first beta mod release , soon................

Have been running Version 5 for a while now and have not seen any trouble other than the following..

When engine on P38 smokes.. the smoke goes Upwards a bit before starting backwards.
I dont see the sideways smoke thats been mentioned,.. but with the P38.. the smoke curves upwards and then back over the engine.

Other problem is just frame hit when there are a bunch of aircraft crashes...
and you look at it Smile

I do have Fab Freds train/crash smoke column mod

Hi Widowmaker ,
yeah , the smoke is coming very slightly upwards and then immediately backwards on a lot more planes like spit , hurri , P51 , etc..it's the black smoke doing this , it also probably depends where you get hit around engine area but it's also coming out like this from some wings area spots.
I found this slightly upward smoke coming from front engine better as with stock game , smoke is coming out behind the plane from pretty much plane's butt
With this black 3D smoke , I can see it coming out in front of me around engine area of my plane passing by my canopy .
This left side angled smoke coming out of engine is only when gettin' hit in to specific place around engine which I can't tell exactly where , it's probably happening by luck when you get hit to that spot .
There really should not be any problem with version V5 except for those smaller black mushroom issue but that don't bother at least me that much .
This version V5 will stay like it is until there is some less FPS killing 3D break through in smoke development .
I don't have Fab Freds train/crash smoke column mod so I have no idea how it might effect this V5 smoke fire mod or any other issues with it .
It probably depends which mod position inside your mod's main folder game is reading first .
Still you can always try once without Fab Freds train/crash smoke column mod to see if there is any significant difference in plane's black smoke trail lenght behind the plane .
Thank you Widowmaker , I am glad you like it .
BTW I like the movie K19: The Widowmaker with Harrison Ford Big Grin

Well ive seen the smoke on the hurris and spits.. but with the P38..
id say the smoke is curving up about 3-4 feet above the engine on its way back Smile
I'll try to remember to take a screenshot the next time i fly one

I have your Mod up front int he load order but I will tinker around to see if Fab Fred's stuff is having any affect at all. I dont think so but I'll check.

And yes.. love the mod.. all the guys in my group think its great.

Ha Ha  3 to 4 feet above engine ? that would be very bad engine damage goin' on
I had no idea , it didn't happened to me yet with P-38J.
I didn't flew perhaps those other P38 L and Late version that much .
That would be a bug that will need to be fixed by any means if necessary .
That is pretty much like the Mustang engine left side smoke coming out but upwards ?
Thank you Widowmaker for bringing this up so I will now pay attention and will fly P38 trying to get the same upward 3 to 4 feet smoke effect .
If you get by any chance screenshot the next time when this happen , that would be epic .
Now , I am going to fly P38 to see if I can get it happen and what's going on with that upward smoke Smile
