I have been running '46 using an X52 and TrackIR 4 Pro. Lovin' it. A few days ago I downloaded the 6DOF mod from tis site. Having seen conflicting threads regarding malware, I was careful to scan the files before installation. Those were the wrapper, AC mod installer, sfx-0-6, and 6DOF files. No malware was detected with AVG. Immediately things got waaay screwed up.

Now the x52 does not work properly unless the TrackIR is not running. TrackIR starts and the process runs when I click on my desktop icon, but does not run on screen. I have to then shut it down within the vistal task manager. It will run onscreen if I open as admin.

I have uninstalled and reinstalled the updated TrackIR and X52 drivers and software for vista. They are the same that worked like a charm until the mod install. I did a fresh reinstallof IL2. The problem persists. The only thing different is that the mods were installed. Are there some registry values to fix? Are there other factors to consider???

where is your game installed in? Program Files?

then you have got a problem

Vista doesnt allow you to modify the files in Program Files directory

make a folder in your hardrive such like Games, then copy your game there, install what you need to do, it should work

you root should look sort of like this

C:\Games\Ubisoft\IL2 sturmovik

Thank you very much. Yes, it was installed in the defaust program files location. I will do that. I had thought of uninstalling all and reinstalling all in my home folder, not really much different from what you suggest, but thought better to ask first. One point I had forgotten to mention is that I called Naturalpoint tech support and walked through some issues, one of which was that because TrackIR would only start onscreen as admin, then IL2 had to be too. Putting them both in my home folder would eliminate some permission issues if I am correct.

Should I even bother trying to install the mods again? Can I expect the problem to persist? I will not until and unless I feel reasonably assured that it can be done without problems.

I suggest yes, try to install the game fresh to the Games or other folder to eliminate further problems

also you can turn off the UAC control
