Disabling the Windoze Keyboard Key
#1

If there's one key I have hated it's the windows key, tabs you out of the game and in my case flops my joystick when I get back in, meaning I have to boot out and restart the game.

Here's some ways of handling the problem:

Extreme: CA it

For MS Keyboard users (software installed): Control Panel, Keyboard, Keyboard Properties - Key Settings.

Generic Keyboards: Download this util http://webpages.charter.net/krumsick/
Lets you remap/disable keys [global].

Find a long slim object. (knife will work)
Jam it under the windows key
tilt the object(knife)
key pops out
problem solved...

For repair, simply insert the key back into the resulting hole...

You are using the MS Sidewinder II Force Feedback? I am and have the same issue! Thanks for posting the workaround.

The thought did occur to me to pull the offending keys out Viper, the only problem being that if I ever did want to put them back in one day I'd probably never find them again, got enough junk stashed away in boxes already as it is :o

MS Sidewinder II Force Feedback it is, great stick I love it. I don't think the tabbing/FFB issue is a problem with the stick but rather with IL2. Should not be an issue with BoB anymore.

 As mentioned above you can try popping the key out with a knife, screwdriver or what you like (Sledgehammer lol) or you can try this "Disable Windows Key".

If you got some extra cash hanging about then you could get a G15 Keyborad, it has a button to disable the windows key.

Sledgehammer sounds good
Just another way for MS to splatter their logo all over the planet, as if having to put up with windows isn't enough lol.
