ground lover Wrote:thanks for your help Mcwolf, im not sure what is wrong but it has something to do with my open Gl settings, i switched my game to direct x and all works fine, better looking water and landscape is not as important to me as replacing those god awful default markings, my driver dettings were already up to date but my card is old and proberbly needs replacing.
thanks again for doing so well on what was at first done so badly.

EDIT: their is somekind of conflict with diffrent driver versions on my system somewere thats stopping open GL from working properly (now if i only knew how to fix it)Sad
You can try uninstall your existing driver, clean with Driver Sweeper , download from here
http://phyxion.net/Driver-Sweeper/Drive ... a-1-is-out
reboot, then install new driver

Download new DLL, rebuild your conf.ini, check again. wish it help.

i tried what you suggested (more than once) but still no joy and now im starting to get RAM issues, i think i should just be happy with the tat water and stop proding around before my pc implodes.
but still thanks for all your work on the mod and trying to solve my problem

ground lover

EDIT: Big Grin Big Grin Big Grin despite my better judgement i contiuned proding around and ive fixed it, The problem: i was comparing the german tga's to the american star to see why the german one works and the american didnt and i descovered that the american on was bigger (140x140 pixels) than the german one (128x128) so i resized all the american and british roundels to 128x128 and they work fine now, i cant notice any size diffrence in the loss of the 12 pixels so all is good and all the lag has vanished too.

Any Update McWolf ?

I am using your Mod now instead of the MatManager, and waiting for your next release before starting a new flight career in IL2.

Many thanks for this Mod

Hi Metus81,
now delayed by LW later 109 numbers, still not satisfied with those washed result.

Hi CUJO_1970,
do you mean similar effect as Ace's one in IL2 Mat manager? Personally, I think it's overdone, not very match IL2 overall color and graphic theme. I use CanonUK and Mangas's skins for my skinmod. but if you prefer heavy weathered one, you can use Ace's one replace those default tga, with same named one.
my weathered effect come from three parts
1 eraser scratched mark on 10% Translucent Alpha layer
2 eraser scratched mark on RGB layer
3 grey brush scrached mark on RGB layer
in order to make marking tga have some interactive effect with background.

Yes...that's what I had in mind. I thought they really looked great on the latest skins by samson(especially) as well as RONNCO and vpmedia.

But, yours are really excellent also and a great/much appreciated addition to the sim - so I'm going to stick with yours. Thanks!

A question has arisen about the need to use the mod activator with this- if someone had the wrapper, or UI installed, is the activator needed?
Should'nt it be sufficient to just put the decal shine mod in the mods folder?

Dear McWolf I've been so anxiously been looking forward to instaling this mod. unfortunately picking "RAF" or "RN" for natonalities in a spitfire e.g. gives me corrupted roundels on both sides of the wings. is there any work-around? All other insignia play just fine. ..puzzled on my end :?

Could it be those roundels should be saved otherwise to be diplayed truely with ATI-cards?

Arghhh, Wannahave!!!!!!!!!!!!

could you kindly show me a screenshot? I really don't understand your problem.
This mod didn't change default file structure, I use 8800GTS now, no any problem, my old NewMat was developed when I use ATI 9800, also without problem.
Default British and German roundels are 64x64, now resized.
Could you also try to use Slovakian cross on spitfire and check if the display is correct? because the default one is 256x256 tga. or you can try to resize RAF and RN roundels to 128x128, check if it work. if OK, then I will resize it in updated version.

Hey, McWolf. The screenshots are very promising...
You seem to develop a mod that I've been waiting for quite a long time.
I plan to uninstall MatManager and install this your mod during the coming weekend. I'll report about the results on Monday or so...

I'm looking forward to your updates of this and, again, thank you for your work!

Cheers and regards,
Mangas.

P.S.: IMHO the best planes in game to test any "shining" effects are Spits and Zero-s.. And, perhaps, P-38...

Thank you McWolf for your mod, but I would like to know if you could give us a link to D/L it WITHOUT 7Zip program-compression but with Rar method. Thank you again

Rar does handle 7z, right?
