Marking Mods - full functional new countries & markings

Saint Andrew's Cross was bulgarian axis insignia. The spanish nationalist planes were with black roundels on both fuselage sides.

Yes, and black circles too under the wings. Over the wings, St Andrews cross is good.
Only a few Republican planes had roundels (markings were in rudder and the red paintings in fuselage and wingtips), but some had, so its basically correct to have them

Ah, if you want to make an "Escuadrilla azul" mission or campaign, the markings are from Luftwaffe.
(the "Escuadrilla Azul" were some volonteer Spanish squadrons sent for fighting in the East Front)

I think I add the Escuadrilla Azul in the "More Nations and Squadrons" mod...

I am sorry that these 2 mods are not compatible, due to the fact that different abreviations have been used for Nationalist and Republican Spain !!!

Avoir la foi, c'est être plus sûr d'une chose que la raison ne le permet.

Yes I agree with Gaston..

Not interested to donwload 2 mods with similar things.

Please try to combine both mods and to issue a real "more nations" including markings and voices.

Thanks a lot

It is fairly easy to make it compatible with Gaston mode it is sufficient to edit your regiment.ini, reginfo and regshort files changing the country letters from ES to ER and SP to EN. However if MUAS could have a look at GASTON mod for the next countries this could save us a little bit of work. Thanks to both for the nice MODS it is nice to be able to display country markings and add squadrons to the game

That is right, but it will probably result in an hibrid mod, with Marking Mods 4 new countries plus all other provided by Gaston's More Nations and Squadrons mod. It might be a solution for some of you who just want to have one Custom Nations mod, but it will loose all its consistency, specialy for online use.

Let's clear some things first.

Marking Mods its not really a truly mod but an upgrade of the stock nations provided by the out of the box IL-2. In fact, I added 4 new countries using the very same method of army implementation of the stock countries. I wanted the new countries to work exactly as the original ones, with no side effects, specialy online.

I didn't bother to much with new squadrons because they are easy to implement - its just plain text editing and anyone can add whatever squadron he wants. Maybe I should have mentioned that in the readme.

New countries, on the other hand, are a diferent business. The IL-2 engine needs to load them up, and needs to know which side they fly for, among other things...

I still need to do a little more testing to be sure everything is working as it should, prior to go on with more nations.

Meanwhile, everyone who wants custom nations in this sim can help by providing the following:
  • - choose an aircraft historicaly associated with the country you'd like to have in the sim
    - choose which of the ingame country fuselage codes layout better suits that aircraft
    - choose which of the ingame country codes that shows on the online player list better suits that aircraft
    - provide a default skin for that aircraft
Then leave it to me.
I'll do my best to add it to Marking Mods the way I believe it should be done.

Have fun.

Thanks for the reply, i was just suggesting to use if possible an agreed upon list of country codes in order to minimize the need to customize the mods for both online and offline players

Thanks again for the efforts

Please be aware that this mode is incompatible with the new P-47 v2 cockpit mod. Loading of the mission freezes at 100 if the two mods are activated

In the HUD orderS file (i18n properties) we can have also national orders.

Simple copy and paste a default one, and add _it, _sa, _yu, _hr ecc ecc. with your translation.

It works fine.
