Bessarabia - final map: beta slightyly prolonged
#16

Great Yogi. A work of art and a delight to fly over.

Here are a few comments:

At Oancea, buildings in the road.

I notice generally that the the perfect mode trees appear to block road and rail routes. It will be necessary to repeat this ground texture with the trees turned off when coincident in a road or rail pixel. I notice you still have some spare texture slots in load.ini which could be used. Affects most of the map but easy to fix.

In the file set ed_m01.tga and ed_m02.tga should have the file name swapped.
ed_m01.tga should be the larger file.

What do the files map_ed.tga and map_c.tgaWat do? I have removed them from the mapset without any apparent problems. They do not appear in the load.ini.

I see that you have a map_M.tga and a map_R.tga. Can you explain what these do?
I realise they are required but do not know what they are for.

No extraction problems. The files are not zipped within a folder structure but if you extract in Winrar winrar automatically creates a folder with the same name as the zip file. Winzip doesnt do this. Yogy never claimed to be providing any sort of AutoInstaller with the Beta so we need to expect to do a bit of file juggling.

Yogy, what are those brown rectangular things that look like ponds (look like water)? Is it a texture missing? I see them all around.

So far I didn`t notice missing textures on the beta map, but I know that some people had this problem with the old version of the Bessarabia map. Only the Bessarabia textures seem to be affected by this issue. Maybe it is a conflict with some video cards?

I also confirm there is no Bessarabia-beta folder created when using winrar. By simply creating a folder with that name then unzipping the contents of the zip/rar file into it, then adding the line "Bessarabia-beta Bessarabia-beta/load.ini" to the all.ini file inside the mapmods/maps folder everything is fine.

Nice work!!

I've been building a template on this map, and no bugs found at all.

Cool, what kind of template?

It's an August 1944 template for an A-20G campaign that I'm starting. I've created some of the defences for the Trajan line. All I need to do now is populate the airfields. If there's going to be no more changes to them, I can start right away.....

Very cool news indeed! Will you work on a DCG-template or is it for a "handmade" campaign??

As nobody (including myself) found any bugs (except the small one above), I ill not change anything in the airfields.

The only thing which I will do:
Add some more objects outside dwellings to get a more lively landscape. But this is only very minor modifications.

One thing I could do:
Delete the fences whic are around big airfields, IIRC Odessa, Husi etc. What do you think?

yogy - it will be a static "handmade" campaign. You can check out my previous work here: http://www.mission4today.com/index.php? ... rch&sa=576

I don't have a preference with the airfield fences really. Either is OK.

Oooops... that's what I call an impressive list of campaigns Confusedhock: .

Gotta check some of them out! Thanks, Phil! 8)

I personally did find ca. a dozen or so bugs, especially broken roads.

If anyone has anything like this or other, please post here!

I continue the work on the map until end of this month.
