Why is this place not mentioned on the other IL2 sites?
#1

I think of myself as the average loyal player,of the 4-5 games I regulary play,this one takes up 75 per cent of my time.My skins folder is more than 10 gigs plus in size and always growing.
Up until now,all of my info on this game regarding anything other than skins came from the UBI Pacific fighters site and my skins from the main sites like CanonUk,Flying Legends, the old IL2SKINS,etc.I dont think I have seen this site mentioned there before,i found it by accident!
To make it short,have they been deliberately suppressing the whole idea of modding this game?Why?

Simple answers:

=> Online gameplay balance
=> Historicaly inaccurate planes (FM/WM) & loaduts for individuals wanting them

Ok.But it does'nt seem fair to the people who dont spend much time online,the work here is beautiful and I think its historically inaccurate to be bounced in my 109k by a Zero wearing a racing skin.
I would think that the number of people of dont play online is much bigger than we would know,they just tend to be less noticed.
Regardless,I dont understand the big secret,my wife is talking about divorce because of all the extra time in front of the PC due strictly to this site and its brilliant contributors.

I spread the word if I find people who are serious about IL2. On some forums AAA is refered to as "The other place" because people think that mods are cheating. The UI even allows you to switch off mods so I have no issue with that.

I dont think so.. I think t is primarily because these mods were not officially sanctioned by UBI or 1C... at least that is why the policy is the way it is @ UBI.. Heck I had to campaign pretty hard to get just discussion mods allowed there.. and that was only after the mods were out for a while and the thing that most of the camp that was opposed to modding due to past experience were most concerned about never happened.. ie widespread online cheating.

This site was key to that... if this site did not exist I doubt we would be discussing mods @ UBI today.. or that other sites.. primarily SHQ & M4T would have allowed the discussion to flow.. but due to the quality and integrity of this site... many who were formerly opposed to modding because of negative past experiences have embraced them in this sim.

Great answer BC ... I remember watching the whole "evolution" over at UBI. This site was the key.

BC pretty much explains why II./JG53 moved over to mods. Unlike in other flight sims that have been opened up to modding there is a lot of integrity here that helps the community accept the mods and use them without too much fear of engaging people online in super fighters or Ufos etc.

That depend of the site, it exist some site who don't allow of talk of that, and other site, like the french site SFM ( http://forums.simulation-france-magazine.com/ ) where it is allowed and who make a lot of publicity with link for this site and his new stuff. That depend of the admins of the sites. And it is not to forgot that the mods are a "hack" of il-2, and by definition, it is not totally legal, but like it is there, for who this is really important?:lol:
