I believe it was developed from the Wirraway and its lineage is the NA-16 or Texan or Harvard.

The Wirraway trainer provided a starting point for the Boomerang's airframe. CAC general manager (and former chief designer) Lawrence Wackett and chief designer Fred David began detailed design work at the CAC factory in Fishermans Bend, Melbourne on 21 December 1941. David was a Jewish refugee from Austria, who had worked on aircraft designs for Heinkel in pre-Nazi Germany, as well as for Mitsubishi and Aichi in Japan.[1] As a result, he had a comprehensive knowledge of advanced contemporary fighter designs, including the Heinkel He 112 and A6M Zero.



Wirraway
manufactured in Australia by the Commonwealth Aircraft Corporation (CAC) between 1939 and 1946. The aircraft was an Australian development of the North American NA-16 training aircraft. During World War II, the Wirraway served as the starting point for the design of the emergency fighter CAC Boomerang

I believe it was developed from the Whirraway and its lineage is the NA-16 or Texan or Harvard.

Yes and No. It was developed from the Wirraway (though about all they kept was the tail section and the wing centre section + u/c) but the Wirraway wasn't developed from the Harvard. It was developed from an aircraft that was later developed into the Harvard. So the Wirraway and the Harvard are cousins, but one isn't developed from the other. Thats a bit like saying the Sea Fury was developed from the TA 152 (although that may be stretching the point)

Magpie that is so damn cool . Being Aussie this will make a great addition to IL2 in my opinion.
Will definitely be keeping my eye open for any little teasers that appear before release.
