I ran into the same stuttering issue (perhaps because of my ATI card). I remedied it by just reducing the dimensions of the 12_smoke.tga file. It comes in the mod as 300 by 300 pixels, I tried many new sizes, but settled on 64 by 64.

Also, does anyone know of a way to decrease the amount of debris sprites produced after a hit?

I really like this mod, but unfortunately the smoke effects interfere with some other better smoke that I have from Holy Grail. Is it possible we can get a version that is just the flash effect and that is it?
