TacticalS Wrote:Those for those beautiful screenshots! Wonderful mates. As already asked, will these campaigns be released here or over at DCG (or both)? Uploaded to Mission4Today, etc?
Also, will the install automatically replace the necessary DCG "core" files to add the new maps, planes and ground units?
Finally, can someone confirm that I can play DCG without any changes with the AAA Mod and enjoy everything but obviously the new stuff (i.e., maps, planes and units)? There are no glitches playing this way is there?
TS!
speaking for my "Atolls" campaign, i don't know where i'll upload it. i'm not a member of Mis4 so i doubt that'll be my first place to upload, i don't know if they'll let me upload it here as i'm unknown to most of these guys. but i'll get it up "somewhere" and post a link if that's what i have to do. also, speaking of my campaign, it's one hundred percent compatible with the newer versions of DCG...built just like an original DCG stock campaign more or less...and works entirely as a normal THIRD PARTY campaign should. the only thing you have to do to use it, is just drop the Atoll campaign folder inside DCG's main folder, copy the DGEN files over to your IL2 DGEN folder, open up DCG and point it to the Atoll campaign and then
"LET ER RIP!" ie jump in the game and choose her and play.
of course you have to have the "Atolls" map downloaded from the link provided here on this site...and properly installed.
the campaign uses stock planes, so no worry there, but does use some of the additional FMB ground objects available in
IL2 4.09 and UI 1.1 so you'll need those to run it also.
all that being said, no...there are no glitches playing this campaign with the UI 1.1 or the new Atoll map. in fact, there should be no DCG related glitches at all with ANY new map as long as the map is installed properly and IL2 is already using them properly. DCG just plain don't care WHAT map you use...it only calls them up to draw out the missions for your campaign...it lets IL2 actually 'use" the map. DCG will use "any" map you have installed into IL21946 as long as it has a "Campaign" written for it telling it where to go and what to look for.
now new planes are another thing. that's why i didn't create my Atolls campaign using any modded planes or new plane types. i could have, but then i knew that some people might not have EVERY plane i had, and wouldn't be able to use the campaign, so i used stock planes...and anybody that wants to can add any modded plane they care to if they make the needed changes to their DCG "Class" file. DCG does not care if you have modded planes in the game...but to some extent it does care if you're trying to use them in DCG. so having modded planes in IL21946 is no problem with DCG...but if the DCG campaign you're trying to play CALLS FOR THOSE MODDED PLANES...then it minds. ---if you get me on that. so they have to be inside the DCG Class and Payload files to work.
again, not a worry with my campaign...as i only used stock planes.
now...DCG itself has a few annoying glitches from time to time. there's the campaign glitch where suddenly the campaign goes to sleep and thinks its done when its not...Paul is working on fixing that, but to date it still happens occasionally. i've experienced that a few times with Atolls...but it's rare. otherwise, this campaign (so far) is smooth sailing if you can keep the Japanese Zeros off your tail long enough to survive it.
anyway...i'll post up a link soon as i finish the testing. again, thanks for the interest and hope i made sense with my explainations above.
