Historical skin for me?
#1

Ok, so I've just found out how to make some skins on GIMP (gimp is a very good program once you know how to do it) so anyway, I wanted to see if I can make a historical skin for any of the plane but all the skins I know for are already done. Cry

I am asking here if you know for any skins not done yet, tell me, I want to try and make one... or more.

Skins having been done before shouldnt stop you, it never stops anyone else.

What types of aircraft are you keen to do?
I have plenty of references hanging around for stuff that noone or hardly anyones skinned before.

I would do any. It would be great if the planes Void skin would have well made and visible panel lines.

Well, we have a flyable He 219 but only with his default skin!

( viewtopic.php?t=10336&highlight=219 )

We will appreciate a lot some new skins for it!
The void is included in the pack and I think that you can find some good paint scheme
on the web.
So, if you like the plane...good work! Big Grin

What about Slovakian 109s? I have a number of books here (just referencing your location)

I have a fair bit on them plus you can get Jestes 109 template which wont take much to get the hang of

There are so many skins that haven't been done yet (although with the Bf-109 it sometimes seems that every single aircraft produced during the war has been skinned already ... ha ha).

But seriously - here is a good reference site that has thousands of profiles:

http://wp.scn.ru/

There should be inspiration enough.

I'd always try and find something completely different to skin, a colorful color scheme, an unusual aircraft that can be hacked into something flyable in Il-2, a nationality that differs from the usual mix of US/UK/USSR/Germany/Japan, an aircraft flown during a lesser war or conflict, or else make up something that is believable yet still your own creation (for instance a night fighter version, or a maritime version or a trainer version).

The sky's the limit.

I remember something about our president going to another country and they played the Slovakian anthem. If you think I'm from Slovakia, Slovakia and Slovenia are not desame.

Bring 'em on anyway ^^

The He219 isn't exactly my style but I'll most likely make some
(I feel like a noob right now, asking for work hopefully I'll make them good  )

opps my bad, to too hot with those sort of countries names

I will post up some 109s that havnt (or rarely) been covered maybe not just Slovakian

the 109 is a good place to start skinning, the model takes the skin really well, theres no real stretching and its quite easy to see where everything goes, yes its a popular subject but for a reason, its the main protagonist in europe and it saw many different paint schemes used.

I will post some stuff up tonight Smile

How about some skins for the Gladiator in Pre-War U.S. Navy or U.S. Army Air Corp markings

I looks fine to me, Theres much worse out there for download

I wouldnt trust the wing camo pattern to be accurate tho, I would replace it with the one from 'Yellow 9' The 4th pic from the bottom, it has the colours around the right way.

For my personal taste I would darken the darkest grey a tad more but thats just me

Also the supercharger intake on the left of the nose, dont forget to paint that, its located on the bottom of the skin file to the right of the centre

Keep it up you are doing great I can post photos of this bird later and others similar Smile

Well, if the offer is still on, I would enjoy verry much a skin of the Ju-87 C. It hasn't been done wet, maybe due to lack of information. Luck, however, was on my side when I found this http://wp.scn.ru/en/ww2/b/29/2/2/26 (thanks to agracier). So if there is still interest, and if this is your style.
P.S. Personal oppinion, but I think the cammo sheme should be more greyish than greenish.

Ello, I've ditched the BF109 skin I was making as I forgot to put layers, so the light blue color is on desame layer as the wing camo etc. However, I did start making a new P51 skin, "Down For Double" here are two screens of what I've done today:

I've done the bare metal effect, its not the best or noticable, I have one that is darker... the nose and other colors are done too, got to fix the the nose a bit and the writing on the fuselage though.
Now just have to add the noseart, the kill signs, the numbers and the cards on the nose. Confusedhock:

@Tolmir
I'm not very good at skinning german planes but I'll give it a shot after the mustang.
