Game freeses & crashes after 30-40 min play...
#1

Hello to all. I have the following problem:
after 30-40 min playing offline mission, stuttering appears all of a sudden in the end of the mission, afetr that I have freezez and eventually the game crashes to DT.
I began having this problem several months ago, after that I installed new NV drivers and it dissappeared, and now appeared again... Cry
I tried stuttering solution guide from this section, but still no luck...

Any help will be appreciated!

Regards,
Mangas.

I had that problem before and tried everything. I even did a new install of windows and all drivers! Every time I thought I had fixed it, It would return! I found out later after giving up and building a new computer that the Power supply in my old one was going bad and causing the exact same problems. If your power supply is going bad or is not strong enough it can make your CPU do odd things that will have you chasing wrong problems.

Try to disabilitate one by one your mod (-) in front as you know Wink.. may be probably an issue from some smoke effect in textures folder/microsoft acess tables (files), at least this was for me.

Have you cleared the dust and all the objects in the way in front+behind the cooler fan? I have a laptop and I simply but an eraser under the back to get more air for the processor. No more lag.

mmm... stutter is a kind of lag... and Frustration is not that wrong, it could come from the cpu or the graphic card who is overheating. Did you try to leave your tower open to check if it go better like this? Do you have enough free space on your hard drive? Is your swap drive not full? Does it apper all the time or only when you have a big number of planes or objetcs in the mission?

I had a similar crashing issue which turned out to be my graphics card overheating, like you after around 30-40 minutes of play. there is a program called rivatuner which has a temperature monitor - it would at least be worth eliminating this possibility as it will likely kill your graphics card.

I have the same problem with my ATI card. Even without VPU recover. Temperatures of CPU, Graphic card and hard disks are normal.

Mangas, when it crashes to desktop, do you have some mesage from windows about not readable memory?

if gpu crashes it windows will say something and if CPU crashes your computer should restart or freeze.

Nvidia driver lower your GPU clock when it reach a certain temperature, it doesnt crash to desktop but can cause stuttering and if the temp continu to grow it will crash to desktop or freeze without any Windows message... It's the way Nvidia drivers are build...

Thanks to all of you for your replies! I'm grateful to all of you.
I'll try to answer all your questions:
1. I'm running WinXP SP3
2. 8800GTX with 180.48 driver
3. I have my case opened all the time (side wall removed) and I'm absolutely O.K. with temperature
(I have -10 below outside and only 18 C inside my room now)
Here's my status DURING the flight:

To Avala: Yes, exactly as you say: "the memory can't be read"...

But what is most frustrated (believe it or not) I have CTD right before landing after completing the hardest missions! (When I'm in the process of landing, or even when rolling to park my plane)... Weird...

Thanks and regards...

I had the same problem a few years ago with a 6800 Ultra. It turned out to be a heating issue, once I got the card to run cooler, the lock up - black screen - CTD routine stopped.

Ok, your temps look good, maybe it is the driver. I'm running the 181.20 WHQL on my 8800GT, it is the fastest and most stable driver I have found for my card.
