Hi

I purchased IL2 1946 through steam on Friday. I have spent most of the weekend trying to figure out why a lot of the skins and textures are messed up.

Here is a SS of the kind of thing I'm talking about.









This is happening with a lot of the planes and mission maps also sometimes the clouds and the sun don't render properley and just looked messed up.

This happens on all resolution and video options.

My PC Spec is...

AMD64 X2 dual core 5000+
3gb RAM
ATI HD 4850 (updated the catalyst drivers yesterday but the problems pesist)
XP 32bit

I have tried disabling catalyst ai but the problems still happens.

I redownloaded and reinstalled IL2 last night and the exact same problems are still present.

Please any ideas because this is really dissapointing, I was hoping to have a nice weekend of flying with a new sim but ended up just being frustrated.

Hmm... It seems to be in your graphic card settings... Cant help anymore but hope even that helps...

If I click the switch to turn off "attempt stencil buffer" the game will sort of reload with the new settings, the stencil buffer switch appears to still be on but this seems to sort out the problem. If I quit the game then load it up again the problem is back until I click "attempt stencil buffer" again, however this still isn't ideal because I want to play in 1920x1080, when I click "attempt stencil buffer" my TV will switch to 480p and I cant use my native res after clicking "attempt stencil buffer", after clicking this the game looks rubbish anyway.

I had this same problem with the game through steam.
I had a temporary fix by switching from opengl to directx, this would cause the textures to go back to normal. Then I would exit the game and copy my conf.ini file (backup) back over the top.

this has stopped happenning for almost a month, don't recall changing anything.

If I change resolution ingame the problem is sorted but when I quit the game, the next time I load up the problem is back.

I ended up buying the retail dvd version it it works properly . Gonna see if I can get a refund off steam.

Hey all!
What is the matter, if the textures of my tracers are showing up the colors like this?
This happens often, when I play with many AI/Artillery.
