Why Can't the Infantry Walk on Water?

Hello,

Hope I am in the right forum here. If not, please feel free to re-direct. I have a question about the Infantry Mod. Yesterday, I spent quite a bit of time carefully positioning some figures from the infantry mod, placing them on the decks of a German VIIC submarine and an S-boat. I wanted to model the S-boat providing assistance to the damaged sub, while welding and other things are happening on deck. All looked great in the 3D mode of the FMB, but when I played the mission and flew over the scene I had created, none of the infantry mod figures showed up. Is there some kind of limitation in the code that makes them appear only on surfaces designated as "land" and not over those labelled "water"? Or is it because these guys are really in the airforce and simply don't like being on boats?
But seriously, can anyone please provide me with some suggestions to make these fellows appear on my ships in the mission and not just in the full mission builder?

... this is section for all requests/question threads regarding mods ,

you've posted in beta discussion section which should be used only for actual "Work In Progress " projects threads ( if you're working on some mod you can start thread there for gathering info and help )

Only Oleg walks on water.

I tired the same setup, placing figures on a Russian gunboat so that it looks like they are setting explosive devices on a bridge and while in game they were right where I placed them.

Hello Boris The Spider,

Thanks for posting that screen shot. This is pretty close to what I was trying to do. Are those soldiers standing on the bridge, or on the boat, though? I couldn't clearly see that. Perhaps, I should try a few different maps to check whether it's the map that's causing the problem. I used the regular Norway map. Which map did you use for the mission in your screenshot?

They are on the boat.
IIRC I think that is the Smolensk map. which map did you use?

I used the Norway map first. I also tried the Balaton map. No success with both. It's no problem placing infantry on the ice of the frozen Lake Balaton in the winter map, but in summer, it just won't work. Which objects did you use exactly, i.e. which soldiers from the infantry mod are the ones in your screenshot?

I used troops from the infantry mod and cloned them at different heights to make this German troop ship and i dont seem to have any problem

Ok here goes, first you will need Infantry mod installed and you will find your figures in FMB OBJECTS,
there are 11 of each German, Soviet, desert etc. Find the one you want to clone, lets say the first figure of German soldier kneeling. Go to your static ini file (Mods/com/maddox/il2/objects/ static) scroll down list and find section Title Humans Reich. find the first figure

Title Human_01R
MeshLive 3do/Buildings/addobjects/Human_01R/live.sim
MeshDead 3do/Buildings/addobjects/Human_01R/dead.sim
AlignToLand 0
Body FuelSmall
Panzer 0.005

Now you must copy and paste this entry ( below this one, ensuring one line gap between) we are going to alter the new entry and give him a new name, you can call him what you like, i have called him Human_01_ship, be sure to change first 4 lines and watch your capital letters like this

now find line 5 AlignToLand and add a new line beneath it AddHeightLive (watch capital letters) and give it a new height, i have given it 4.2 now save file and your static ini entry is done!

Next go to Mods/infantrymod/3do/buildings/addobjets and you will find your figure folders. the figure we have altered is Human_01R so you will need to make a copy of this folder (copy and paste) and rename it Human_01_Ship Now you are done and you should have a new figure in your FMB OBJECTS list
You need to do this for each figure you wish to clone, giving them different names

To make the troop ship i used ship pack 2, stationary ships, transport 4 and cloned these figures
Figure kneeling (Human_01R) AddHeightLive 4.2
Figure standing (Human_02R) AddHeightLive 8.42
AddHeightLive 5.55
AddHeightLive 3.2
Figure sitting (Human_03R) AddHeightLive 4.2
Figure bending over (Human_05R) AddHeightLive 4.2
Figure sitting chair position (Human_06R) AddHeightLive 8.42
AddHeightLive 7.95
AddHeightLive 3.70
Figure standing rifle slung AddHeightLive 8.42
AddHeightLive 5.55
AddHeightLive 3.2
