Well I'll give you some more feedback.

I really like the starter sounds. Those are a leap above what the game uses now. Really sounds like a starter.

I just dropped this into the MODS folder and my mustangs took right to it. Didn't have to do anything else. That was great. Now all my Merlin engined planes use the same sounds.

Are there any UI 1.1.1 mods which should be disabled to correctly run this mod? When I added it to my MOD folder, the engines sounded different, but not correct. Seemed something was definitely off. I "-" disabled this mod and the engine sounds went back to normal.

Note, I noticed weird engine sounds with any plane I flew with this mod enabled. Must be a conflict somewhere...

you dont put these sound files into a MODS folder, you put them in Files\Samples
