Unprecedented visual realism in FSX
#1

I've seen this video posted in spanish simmers forums, and I just wonder if some day we will see scenarios like this in Il-2, BoB, or both.

It is perefectlly posible now. That is onlly a hi tecxture Picture. For Civi sims and sight seeying is grate and looks goregeous. Now in a Combat sim where you ussually fly close to teh ground and buildongs, the resolution at very low altitude is Horrible, AND I hate the houses being "painted" on teh ground with no real tactical value. . Same as teh trees, being spots on teh ground and getting ddeformed when flying over them at low level.

To me Il-2 today has much better ground representation that any SFX terrein up to date, that I have seen. The difference being mainlly, SFX being a 2D world, and Combat sims like Lock On or Il2 having 3D worlds that you can interact with.

I agree with Baco, photorealistic textures are only nice at 1000 meters + above ground level. Sad

Looks great but if you watch the waves on the beach they aren't moving  which sim comes out tops there?

That is FSX using add-on terrain mesh and Tile Proxy. Tile Proxy downloads satellite images on the fly and uses those images instead of tiles.

Yes looks very impressive at altitude, but I'd agree with baco and others it's essentially 2D terrain and no good for a combat sim, but I must say I also hate the low level look of IL-2 even with new maps/mods it still looks like toytown. The best 3D terrain at the moment in sims is either Black Shark or even ArmA the latter being crap as a flight sim but still features full 3D terrain to fly through at low level and bearing in mind the game is almost two years old, so the question still remains why dont other flight sims look like this?
