LOL, that is not a bug!

It's supposed to be a pad of silica gel which was used on some later 109s (mostly Gustavs with pressurized cockpits as far as I know such as the G-1, G-3, G-5,...) in order to soak up moisture and keep the cockpit from foging up!

This feature came with Freddy's cockpit mod

I dont know exactly if its position is 100% correct as on most pictures I've seen it mounted on the right hand side window panel of the canopy frame.

Silica color seem to be little more lite , close to the cockpit glass on this one

I'd rather see a desiccant capsule than a frosted-up windscreen

 open the Bf109G2PanelDMG.mat by WordPad,
change
ColorScale 1.0 1.0 1.0 1.0
to
ColorScale 0.0 0.0 0.0 0.0

you can remove it very easily.
see \MODS\Cockpits_BF_109_Mod\3do\Cockpit\Bf-109G-6Late.
there are blank files, for example, Trans_I.tga.
remove original file Bf109G2PanelDMG.tga, and copy Trans_I.tga and rename to Bf109G2PanelDMG.tga.
same for G10, K4.

for G2, copy Bf109G2PanelDMG.tga of F2.

I like it. It is supposed to be there, just like in the real thing.

Yes, this can be changed without hit realist detail.

@ RudeRaptor - and get the latest 109-cockpit pack. It has more detailed desiccant capsule and other things.

it is there yes but its transparent and not like a brown plaster as in game..its enoying when doing a lefthand leedshoot as the patch covers up the plane coming from the right and make the bfs allready bad cocpit wiuv even worse!Smile

Basically you are ALL correct about the color, to some point. The way those work is very simple (we use them still in the Army).

They start out almost clear and as they absorb moisture, they get darker. This lets you know that whatever the Pack is protecting needs to be changed out as it's received/is holding too much moisture.

Typically we use them for MLRS Rockets/Missles and other weapons/systems (Missles, Rockets, Radio, Night Vision etc), that need to stay cool/dry during storage/transport.

The color that is currently used would signify a windscreen in DESPERATE need of replacement as the view from the inside to the outside is most likely VERY cloudy. Most likely to the point of trying to see thru milk.
