A bit of a novelty, but a lot of fun to make and fly. 1:1 scale with four functional airfields and two "emergency" airfields. A bit if a mix of the real and fictional - most of the towns and roads are real places. The airfields are fictional. The big USMC airbase at Yuma is too far south for this map. The railroad to the south is fictional.

Put these two .mis files in you /missions/quick/ folder and add the following line to the [quick] section of your conf.ini:
CustomXX=VKG_Grand_Canyon
where XX is the next number in sequence under the [quick] section.
To Install the Map:
1)Add the folder VKG_Grand_Canyon to the path:
IL-2 Sturmovik 1946/Mods/Mapmods/Maps/
2)Add the folder Grand_Canyon (containing the textures) to:
IL-2 Sturmovik 1946/Mods/mapmods/Maps/_Tex/land/summer/
3)Add to your all.ini the text:
VKG_Grand_Canyon VKG_Grand_Canyon/load.ini

A note on the textures - many of these are just slightly reworked stock textures to give a more southwest U.S. color palette. Some are brand new made by me. I also used Genetica Viewer to render some of them. I did borrow a texture from Zip_Zaps Alpen map and recolored it - it is the one called brecchia. Also, my town texture started life as the downcity texture from dlv's Sinai map.
Thanks to both of you, and I hope you don't mind. The chalk texture also is just a recoloring of someone elses work, although I'm not sure who was responsible for it. Please let me know of any bugs/problems etc. Have fun!
NOTE: This map also uses NTL_Darwin Forest textures - If you do not have those textures installed you will get loading errors. I posted a workaround on the second page of this thread.
