Announcing a NEW project! Yank 46!
#1

IT WAS A PRANT!!! Sorry to everyone that WANTED these aircraft in the game.

OK. After being discusted by the constant flow of uber-duber "Luft 46" aircraft, I finally took the initiative to do something to even out the score. I mean come on! Do-335, Ta,183, Go-229 and the LERCHE II, people are still adding more to it!

Lets start off simple. P-38R. Powered by two RR Merlin 130 & 131 "slimline" engines at 2070HP each, clipped wings, and bubble canopy. Armorment increased to 6 M3 guns in the nose at 1200RPM each. Capable of reaching 500+MPH at sea-level.

Now here is one close to my heart. The F5U FLYING PANCAKE!!!

Developed to be a low landing speed carrier aircraft that takes very little space, this thing could HUVER with powerful enough engines. Prototype built with P&W R-1830's buaried in the wings, it could acheave a top speed of 425MPH, and a landing speed of JUST 20MPH! Armed with 4 20MM and the ability to hang on its props like no other aircraft!

Northrop B-35 flying wing. The true ancestor to the B-2 Spirit stealth bomber. So much so, it even had the same wing span, and control system. I guess they got it right the first time in the 1940's! With 18 defensive guns, maximum speed of 393mph, and a 50,000lb bomb load, this thing will decimate whats left of Berlin!

P-56 Black Bullet. Designed in 1939, this radical fighter had a rear radial engine, and *GASP* SWEPT WINGS! What. Didnt we "steal" that from the Me-262? Early war 400MPH+ with 2 20MM and 4 .50 cal in the nose.

Note, this is early work.

Note that a lot of these models are in early development. The B-35 is the closest to being done, as its already getting some paint on it. I just wish IL2 had some type of reflective aluminum shader for it! Soon, us Yanks will be able to match, if not BEST all those 109 K14 and 190D13/TA's online. We already have the P-80 busting up the Me-262 and Ta-183's, so we dont need any more jets.

What do you guys think?

No worries  Besting any prop fighter by a US prop fighter will be piece of cake as soon as P-51H from Lt.Wolf project is out and without any talk about uncertainity of performance or handling Smile

But surely all the planes you mentioned would be great fun! B-35 would be particularly impressive in every way, I mean historically, visually and performancewise.

JUST got back from testing my first IL2 import! Im VERY proud of this one!

This is my own design. I figured I could draw just as good as the stuff on Luft-46, so I decided to design my own Yak-46 aircraft!!!!

Check this out. 400MPH+ heavy bomber! Powered by 4 Allison V-3420 pumping out 2600HP each in two engine nacelles. Helping those engines breath up high, are 4 GE Turbo-Super Chargers (the 4 cylindres on top of the wings) and to keep them cool, a P-51 style low drag radiator scoop. Paired up with a very sleek body, and slightly swept wings, makes this a very fast bomber. The addition of 10 defensive guns (8 in remote turrets) makes it very painfull IF you can catch it. The downward pointing split horizontal stab also opens up the top gunners field of fire, and allowing the rear gunner to take controle of it at any time to defend the 6 from any wood-by attackers. Also note the advanced blending of the wing and body. All these design principals were designed and tested on various prototype and production US aircraft during the war, so its not at all far-fetched.

Here are some early in-game screenshots.

I plan on blending the engines in more with the wings, like the P-67 Bat.

The Luftwaffe wont know what hit them!

These look like great fun, but I'd still trade the lot for an F4U-4.
Still, do what interests you and it will be gratefully accepted.
