bear with me guys, i installed hsfx 4.0, but when i try to run the hist mod the game wont launch. when i try the stock 4.09 mod the game launches fine. if its working fine i should get the hsfx cover art when the gamne loads right?

You will also need HSFX 4.1

So with a clean 409m install install 4.0 and 4.1 plus the 4.11 hotfix.

ok, fresh intalls and almost success. i get to the HSFX loading page and then a ctd at 60%. when i switch it back 4.09 it works fine. so close yet so far!

any ideas? thanks

A 60% crash is usually down to the wrong/or multiple buttons files. DO a search in your HSFX for a buttons file and see how many there are and where they are.

Then download the latest from the SAS website, making a back-up of your old one, and see if that works by putting it in the same location as the old one

Saipan, some additional info might help to diagnose:

What O/S do you have? Vista and Win7 can interfere with installation and running of IL-2, and it can help a lot to install outside of Program Files folder.

It's possible you have corrupted downloads. Have you tried running the hash checkers that 242 squadron makes available on the download pages?

What are you starting with for the base install? Is it a download version, or do you have the DVD? Download versions may require an additional D2D patch before installing HSFX.

Hopefully, you can get together with Kabayo on TS and get it all working.

dvd, vista, getting mods from proivided links. using the hsfx that came with UP. 4.08 loads ok and also 4.09m.

Hold on...What do you mean by "UP"? I think we all thought you were installing the HSFX from 242 squadron over your stock 4.09 game... i.e. as Monguse stated, 4.09, then HSFX 4.0, then HSFX 4.1

Is that not what you're doing?

In any case, with Vista, you will have less trouble if you install the game outside of Program Files, like C:\Games\ for example.
