[VC-81_BOLTER]

August 1954, a VF-192 Grumman F9F-5 Panther (BuAir No. 125634) in the rarely seen Aluminum skin with no paint applied. Stenciled on the tail fin is the legend:

"THIS IS AN EXPERIMENTAL FINISH - DO NOT PAINT WITHOUT SPECIFIC AUTHORIZATION, SEE LOG BOOK"

Obviously the US Navy had little success in the harsh sea salt environment and eventually settled on the gull grey and white scheme known so well in later years over Vietnam. Here for your enjoyment is the skin.

Very sleek, almost sophisticated look. I like it. If this plane was just a little more stretched out (and less cartoon-ish) it'd be a sexy plane.
As it is, from different angles I get impressions of two very different planes - one is the Strikemaster/Jet Provost (i think it's the straight wings hung with ordinance). The other is the beautiful beautiful Skyhawk, whihc DM has of course already modelled roughly.

Thanks for these great skins. I've got them all so far.

Question.....I have the flyable Panther download, and some downloaded skins but can't apply them to aircraft model , is something missing. I only see the void aircraft. Thanks,

Here you go:

1) Go to QMB and select the skin you want to set as default.
2) Exit game and go to your /PaintSchemes/Cache directory.
3) Find the folder of the relevant plane, in your case F2F9_Panther.
4) Copy the tga files that you'll find there.
5) Go to your /MODS/F9F2 Panther/3DO/Plane/F9F2/summer directory and paste them there, overwriting the existing ones.
You are done, the next time you'll fly the Panther, the default skin will be the one you've selected. 8)

By the way- your suggestion worked like a charm!
Except I have nothing in Cache folder...and everything in NetCache folder...go figure!

Me neither. The NetCache are the skins of the other users connected to the same online server. You will find aircraft skins, pilot skins, nose-art and squad emblems in there. (Some incomplete/partial transmissions)

Re. the Cache issue... you have "clearcache" set to 1 so if you exit the game, it deletes the cache files.. Follow the directions elephant gave you EXCEPT where he says "Exit the game" just alt tab to the desktop to go find and copy the files.. they will be there until you actually shut IL2 down.
