IL2 max FOV limit
#1

For a while now, I have been seeing and experiencing this problem common to all 3-screen IL2 users.

When I run IL-2 on 3 screens through Triplehead2go with Use3Renders=0, a single screen is displayed on three screens but the top and bottom get cropped out. So, I end up with a very wide but a very thin screen.

The cure for that would be the ability to zoom-out more, BUT IL2 has an FOV limit coded-in that cannot be bypassed in the config file.

Could someone in the Mod community put out a little mod to deal with that FOV problem for all if us 3-screen users?

That would be incredibly awesome.

There was a little beta mod floating about here, called IL2 FOVChanger...I can't seem to find it now, but keep looking, hopefully it'll pop up... 8)

I would be very interested to see something likew this as well. I have a widescreen monitor and I dont particularily like the fact that the top (the mirror!) and the bottom are missing.

ALso would this kind of thing be considered a cheat by CRT2? I fly on a mods server that uses this and wouldnt want to be kicked/banned if this is considered 'dodgy'

Cheers!

Version 1.01 has self initialization built in, which is nice, since the program works about 90% of the time.
For whatever reason, it stops working randomly when in flight, and needs to be re-initialized.

It would be bliss if it worked flawlessly.

San just released a new version of the FOV Changer.

This one has ultra-quick re-initialization routine when the utility loses sync with the game, which makes it ideal for combat use now.

Is it worth it to invest in a Triple Screen setup for IL2? Let's take a look...

YES, it is!
Here is what you need:

A) 3 Monitors (It is best if they are the same size)
B) Matrox TripleHead2Go Digital Edition http://www.matrox.com/graphics/en/products/gxm/th2go/

Looks great, but I think I've read somewhere that if you use a headtracking device you can not zoom in or out anymore.
Would be a pity if it is true IMO.

The new 1058 beta works a lot more stable and fast reactivates when needed.

Yes the Zooming by 6DoF has to be disabled. You map some keys for FOV +/- and if you have a programable HOTAS you can make smooth zoom work without problems.

I didnt used the zoom of 6DoF anyway... in real life when I lean forward my image stays at the same zoom... I even wear glasses and is still not working Tongue Big Grin
