good idea, only thing i dont like is we already have a problem with 'rams' online, so wouldnt this just promote that?
No, no, no... What they did was delete all the armor and extra weight so that they could get as much power out of the engine as possible for maximum possible service ceiling so that escorts couldn't get them as they set up their dive at high speed into the formation. Basically the mod, if made, would have a re-tuned FM, reduced arament (1xMG 131 w/50rpg), and highly reduced armor (DM). I read up more on the attacks on April 7, 1945 and out of the eight bombers successfully rammed, at least four pilots survived. However, there were several failures since the planes were so lightly armored, or not armored, that, when the ran into escorts, they got torn to pieces in a matter of seconds, or fractions thereof. Several others had engine trouble and had to return to base. Should be a very simple mod to make for the skilled people here.
Great idea! for what see in the video, te Bf-109 has doesn't have sight installed. Would it be necessary to remove the aim of the airplane. That serious possible?
-Sorry for my bad english, I'm still learning-
"Keep in mind that Dogfights from the History Channel is not historically accurate for most things. They do a good job at describing an event, but that's about it. So, it probably had a gun sight installed."
S! thank you to answer me. I`m think probably they no have sight installed, because the less weight and the more visual field and the aiming are with MG-131. Also probably they wanted to save the biggest quantity possible of equipment; it is alone a presumption.
Beats me... In the few sources that mention the Sonderkommando Elbe, the Bf 109's used are only described as having armor and extra weaponry removed. Still, the gunsight is defientely gone from the show and in all the other pit views on other planes I can find Dogfights having there is a gunsight.
