Is the tga in subfolder 4 purposly named 4.tga instead of clouds256.tga? I renamed it clouds256.tga because...

...I created a small batch file (4KB) that randomly changes both the clouds and cloudnoises every start of IL2 (game start - not mission start).

It needs to be placed in your ..\mods\Bender Sky V3 - Original\ folder. Create a batch file (for example: randomsky.cmd) with notepad and paste the following lines into it:

set /a randomsky=%random% %%16+1
cd %randomsky%
copy clouds256.tga ..\..\mapmods\maps\_tex\clouds256.tga /y
cd ..\cloudnoise
set /a randomnoise=%random% %%3+1
cd %randomnoise%
copy cloudsnoise.tga ..\..\..\mapmods\maps\_tex\cloudsnoise.tga /y

Save and exit. Then create a desktop link to the batch and run it before starting IL2.(or, for example, if you use il2stab to start your game, you could create an external link to the batch that runs every time you start IL2)

Tested on Windows XP SP3. I'm not sure if the %random% function works under Vista (I'm sure someone could try it).

Be aware that the batch doesn't make a backup of the current clouds256.tga / cloudsnoise.tga in the ..\mods\mapmods\maps\_tex folder but, this would be easy to add.

It's primitive but - what the hell - it works.

Hi Bender

I just noticed something else that seems out of place with V3 of your skys mod.

The cloudsnoise.tga in subfolder 3.

The size is 480KB whereas the other cloudsnoise.tga files (subfolders 1 and 2) are 1MB. The wouldn't be bad by itself, but everytime I use the cloudsnoise.tga from subfolder 3, my game crawwwwwls. I'm talking 1 frame every 3 seconds!

I redownloaded your mod from mediafire to make sure my initial download wasn't corrupt.

I don't know if it's an ATI problem (had that with buffy's flaks and maven's hit effects). ATI cards have can have issues with tga files that aren't cleanly divisible by 64.

The cloudsnoise.tga from subfolder 3 is 701 x 701 pixels in size. Those from subfolders 1 and 2 are 1024 x 1024 respectivly.

Can anyone else with an ATI card confirm that using the cloudsnoise.tga from subfolder 3 is causing problems?

thank's for the bat file ... :wink: I'll try it and if you let me include in my next version OK ? Or we can make it together . I want to make a huge mod pack with Skies and Clouds changed randomly every il-2 start without click Smile IF you're intrested in it you are welcome .pM me . I need a man who can write a .bat files. :wink:
Yes there is one texture with 701 pix. Thanks for information about bug on ATI ...a have 9800.

There is not enough instructions were to put these files ? and how you change a map of your choice. Where in the load.ini file of a map do you change ? please help ! :?
