theres a way to make better virtual reality of il2

this is the next logical step to 6dof:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jd3-eiid-Uw

the idea is extreamly simple to develope:

keep fov of game and fov the screen takes from your eyes equal via head tracker

reduce size of evrything to a half or quarter or keep it realistic ( (you could keep this function on buttons like now)(i said reduce size not change fov which is different, fov must be equal to the angle the screen makes from your eyes)

now modders have given us 6dof i dont think im dreaming outloud thinking some could see how great this idea is and develope it for our favourite game

I'm with HansHansen on that.

Now if this was in IL2:

this is a step beyond 6dof

notice in the video the part he looks at the stadium

its like looking trough a window, the closer he gets to the window the more he seees of the stadium

the problem with 6dof is that you vary distance to screen constantly with wich as you get closer to the screen objects appear to magnify

this idea corrects this inherent problem with 6dof

Interesting stuff.. it's application into our gaming world would be a revelation.. brilliant demo, and I was amazed at how those 'targets' at the front literaly looked like they were stuck right out of the tv.. just like a proper 3d image

and gunsights would work for real

its the magic of gunsights:

you get close to them they shrink, you far away they grow

with this improved 6d0f everybdoy could live themselves those magical gunsights, not to mention having the feeling of looking at reality through a window instead of a flat dead screen

WOW.

Now this is a request.

and its extreamly easy to implement,

just keep game fov equal to fov the screen takes from your eyes(detected by trackir)

then in order to make objects smaller or bigger change the size of the virtual world keeping distance constant(with spheric coordinates)(instead of changing fov since you are keeping fov equal to the fov the screen takes from your eyes)

with the realistic size you see to few of the virtual world, then press a buttom programed to reduce to half the size of the virtual world

The 3d image thingy that Johnny lee was demonstrating has been debated and argued about on the Pacific Fighters forums for a couple of years and has recently been brought up again.

Here.. http://forums.ubi.com/eve/forums/a/tpc/ ... 9811036857

It was brought up again by raaaid of all people that boys elevator just doesn't quite make it to the top floor.

So it's old old news.

Hmm that's interesting. I wonder if you'd take an HD projector and set it towards a wall in your house. Then use 3D software to make all the images 3D glasses-compatible, THEN use the Wii mote trick to get window effect.

Now THAT would be something. But.... I think I'll pass this one. I'm still waiting for the day we all get a chair like in the Matrix and just hook our brains onto a network where we control ourselves in a virtual environment (yes, games would be themed for instance WWII where you can choose to fight on the ground, on the seas or in the air Smile, gamer would actually have to learn to fly and better yet, get type-education for each plane type Smile Now that's interesting)

This would be absolutely great. I hope it can be implemented into Il-2 without too much trouble...

AFAIK only DLP projectors work with 3D shutter glasses. Might be possible today with higher frequency LCDs.

im my self raaaid

this idea has been dissmissed before for being a normal screen to small

but this can be solved by reducing the size of the virtual world or keeping both fovs matched but not eequal

both johny lee and me had the same idea thats why i have pretty much understanding of johny lee idea

Check again. Track IR tracks your head movement so that you don't need to use a hat switch on your joystick to move your field of view. This invention simulates depth of field on your computer screen. So far I don't know of any games (much less flight simulators) which implement it, but it could represent a huge leap in video game technology.
