Using a pad for view panning
#1

Is it possible to make a pad's joystick "think" it's a hat switch? I want to make a short film but I don't wanna use mouse for panning. So, I thought I could possibly use a thumb joystick to pan smoothly. I have a Logitech WingMan RumblePad with 2 sticks. Could I somehow fool it to make it act like a hat switch in IL2?

I have a Logitech Cordless Rumblepad with 2 sticks and it also has a directional pad. In theory you could configure the controller to use as a "hat switch". I would play around with the controls for a while. For me I have the elvators and ailrons set to one stick so I have one hand free for my mouse to pan around. My rudders are on the bottom back buttons.

This might be one option for you:

It will allow you to move your camera view with a joystick (or thumbstick), giving a much smoother panning effect than with the mouse. Smile

@ fpoamaster, I use a joystick for flying and FRAPS for filming from pre-shot ntrk files. But thanks.

@ JAMF, thanks a lot, I'll be trying it out later.
