Here's something of a quickie - a new map featuring the southern continent in one of its most extreme landscapes - Tierra del Fuego/Straights of Maghellan.
UPDATED with forest/woods

If you have previously installed this map and you would like to have the map with woods textures, then you can alternatively download the updated map_t.tga and then copy it into your map directory 'ag_Maghellan'. Overwrite the old file map_t.tga when asked.

This map is of course not strictly a WWII battle area. But it is so stunning and striking a landscape, that I couldn't resist. It is also hardly populated, even in this day and age, so creating cities/villages was not much of a time-consuming task.
There are 4 airfields in the map - 2 Argentinian and 2 Chilean. One of each nationality is represented as a backwoods airfield of hardened earth, these are fictitious but useful since distances are quite vast and airfields otherwise far and in between.
One potential 1946 type 'what if?' scenario that could be played on this map would be the following. Instead of dying in Berlin, Hitler and a bunch of goons and followers have made a deal with Juan Peron and receive permission to set up a base in the remote area of Tierra del Fuego. There are advanced aircraft on hand (Lerches, Gotha's He-162's etc).
But the Allies get wind of this and come looking for vengeance - they send a carrier task force and the hunt is on.
This is just a suggestion of course as a possible tie-in to Il-2 1946.
