GA Day at Paine Field... & Other Northwest Warbirds...
#1

From another perspective! Great pics you posted in your thread, Doodle! I'm really sad to hear that Hell-er Bust may be leaving! I love that plane too, as I washed some 172's next to her a few times while I worked over at KAPE... certainly the most pristine airplane I've ever seen... the propeller blades don't even have a single dead bug or scratch on them! Amazing!

To start off, here are some of my shots from GA Day at Paine Field...

^Aviation legend Bud Granley leading the formation in the Jug. He's been flying at local airshows many years now and flies all of the aircraft at the Flying Heritage Collection. I had an amazing opportunity to go flying with him a couple months ago and pick his brain about flying all these wonderful warbirds.

Since there are so many here from the Seattle area, I better mention there is going to be another "Warbird Weekend" on the last weekend in September you all will have to go see.

BTW, is anyone going to be there this Saturday to see the Bf-109 and Storch? I'll be there wtih my Sigma 50-500mm lens, as usual! Smile

It was inside, that and a Spit :?

Really nice shots there F2F (way too long Confusedhock: ) you might want to think about going into business  So, where do you reside? I am in Everett, long drive to Payne for me Big Grin I am smack dab between (as the crow) Snohomish airport and Payne Field, making my house one of the primary flight paths for the HM, I love it! You can sometimes get the feel that you're standing in the middle of France in 44-45 when the birds wing over, quite a feeling, bet you know.

That was a good day at the show, one of the best parts for me was that my youngest daughter went up in a 172. I use to call her "panichead" when she was a kid because everytime I would take her on a slide or down a hill in the snow it would be "NO DADDY, NO DADDY, NOOOOOO........can we do it again" she'd say  She wanted to back up in the 172, did great!

Thanks for posting those shots, tell me, how can I get rid of those watermarks for my new book

It's a local bird. I love "Hell-ER Bust". It's my favorite Mustang and Ed Heller is my favorite Mustang pilot. :-D

Any of you guys know when Historic Flight at Kilo-6 is going to be open?

Thanks guys, I'm glad you all enjoyed the photographs!

I actually live in Monroe, got my private pilots licens flying out of Firstair Field right by the fairgrounds. Wonderful place to fly and perfect for training. Every runway I visit now I think it's waaaaaay too long and wide and not nearly enough obstructions to clear!! haha I always loved sitting there at Monroe counting how many go-arounds those folks from Regal Air did before finally leaving! I remember one fella was getting rather frustrated over the radio, so I said, "it's okay, we won't bite," to which he laughed.

I used to work at Harvey Field for about three years. Until I realized I could actually work for nice people, then went on to work for a flight school at Paine Field (Northway Aviation). The owner was much nicer, paid more, and I had fewer responsibilities! Plus I got to taxi around BRAND NEW airplanes all day long! Smile

As for Kilo-6, I heard they were aiming for a September/early fall opening. I'm really excited to see their other pieces, especially the jets!

Any of you going to be there this Saturday to see the 109 and Storch? This month is really great as they have THREE fly-days! Wohoo!

I was just thinking, it must be getting time for another. I'll see if I can make it, would love to see the 109. I actually like to drag my main woman with me at these things, I'll see if she's in-the-mood Wink

Well I had to help my daughter get ready for camping today but all was not lost. The 109 flew just North past my house headed for the Snohomish airport, and then it did a barrel roll Confusedhock: He turned it back and we were all hoping that he'd bank at my house......HE DID! So we're all out there waying and jumping up and down and he completed one full orbit right smack over the top of us, I was impressed. The sound of that thing!! the supercharger whining and just the sound of the pure power pooring out of that DB, that-was-cool. And yes I was standing in France at the time

I'm sure fight2fly is going to have some great shots of that thing too.........waiting!
