PNW airshows... PHOTOS
#1

Yes, I love warbirds, but I also love some good afterburner action!
Here are some photographs taken at other local airshows in the Pacific Northwest:

^ US Navy Blue Angels departing Boeing Field in Seattle, WA for Seafair 2008. Mt. Rainier can be seen in the background... about 15 seconds later it got real noisy. Big Grin

^Few things can match an experience like this. The camera was zoomed out to only 84mm. You can feel the heat from the exhaust as all six jets come in to land

^Now this is one EASY jet to photograph! I wish they were all like this! Following his performance over Lake Washington for Seafair, this Marine AV-8B Harrier IIPlus pilot performed a 360 degree rotation while hovering directly in front of the Museum of Flight. It's an amazingly loud aircraft!

^Hello, Thunderbirds! This shot was taken on the practice/arrival day leading up to the McChord AFB Air Expo 2008. Standing where I shouldn't, I got this picture moments before being yelled at by some local police.

^Short Final. This is the same spot I was in when I shot the Thunderbird image above in. During the F-15C Demo it started out with a high pass and banked about 100 feet directly overhead... I could hear the air swirling for a good 2 minutes after it!

^Team McChord. This C-17A Globemaster III is based here at McChord and opened up the show with some paratroopers. The morning of the opening day was very humid, providing some spectacular vapor, as you can see here.

^Airfield under attack! The Tora! Tora! Tora! group put on another outstanding demo both days of the airshow

^Sean D. Tucker at the Oregon International Airshow in 2007. He puts on one of the best aerobatic routines I've ever seen. This shot demonstrates why I love my 50-500mm lens so much!

^One for the history books! This was the last F-117A Nighthawk I saw before its retirement. Again, at the Oregon International Airshow in Hillsboro.

^Oregon's own Air National Guard F-15 makes some impressive passes to open up the show.

Enjoy!

Hey, we have those. They're called gliders, right?
