Why is my "Config" re-setting evrytime I start IL2
#1

I'm in a rush and I hope my explanation is not too breif...I'm hoping to get the question "out-their".

I got a "new-built" computer with a freash "Vista Home Premium 64"...I got a fresh install of "IL2 1946" all patched up and a UI 1.1 on top. I'm running a 9500GT and the 178.24 driver. I got my "set-up" page all set-up correct...I go into my "Config" page and set my "1's" and "0'z" where I need'em (water-3,Hardwareshaders-1, Landgeom-3...ect), and I got the new 4.09 DLL's (with the copy twice,Nividia boost trick).

Now the problem...every time I start the game my "config" settings reset to default. ALSO because of the numbers re-setting I can't get into "Perfect" mode. I know the game-start is re-setting them (to water-1, Landgeom-2...ect) because after I set the numbers I "save" + "close" then reopen to check that they did save....

Help!!! Thanks in advance...

p.s. I hope this is clear...I have to run. Thanks again

I think this has something to do with admin rights - I had a similar problem when editing the config file for hyperlobby and had to log in as a 'super administrator' to make changes so they wouldn't revert to standard.

should have everything you need to sort that out. There may be other ways to fix this, but this worked for me.

Vista protects the "program files" folder, if you install IL2 in the default route you can have problems.
My solution was copy the IL2 folder in another folder called Games, out of "Program files" and all my problems vanished.

make sure your folders and files are NOT "read only" in the properties!

My solution was to right click on the config file then select properties. Then select hidden and save that way it wont be changed. Give it a try

I found the answer...

If anybody else has this issue with Vista the answer lye's in the Properties / security / allow full control (to Admin & user & system...everyone). I had to do a ridiculous amount of work in the setting dept. If you need a more thorough explanation I can help you... Smile
