PRS files not working... Need help!
#1

Alright, I haven't had problems up until now, and I haven't done anything new... here's my problem

motor.Packard_Merlin.prs WILL NOT change anything to the P-51 sounds... I give it new sounds and everything.. and I am 100% sure that the prs file is correctly written inside... but why isn't it affecting my P-51 sounds in game at all??

Is this PRS file a dud? just like the R-2000 prs? I hope not Cry

If anyone can help, most appreciated.

I asked about this earlier, and didn't get much of a response. The P-51 doesn't use the packard soundfile, it uses the RR Merlin one instead. Why there isn't a fix for this or why more people don't notice, I can't imagine.

Have you tried to open the .prs file in question with the notepad, just for seeing if it uses the new sounds?

I already mentioned the fact that its all in order... Seeing as how I redid it myself.. I checked the file at least 10 times, its perfectly in order... There is NOTHING wrong with the PRS file...

So what you're saying is the Packard Merlin PRS file is completely useless? Just like the R-2000 PRS file? And you're right... why haven't people showed much attention to this... How many other useless PRS files are sitting in the sounds folder?

If I/we are wrong, how can I activate this PRS file? Does this work for anyone else out there?

This is true , if you are useing the UI 1.1 , the Pm.Prs is redundant and the game selects the Merlin via the buttons for use with both the spits and mustangs , if you want seperate sounds for the stangs then you will have to look at sound mod 0.93 or the sfx range or badger AAA to amend the next buttons release.

Well I vote that it should be fixed. Can't imagine that it would be that hard.

No... it wouldn't be hard. I'll add it to our to-do list for 3.9
