[MOD] P-38J Lightning cockpit, with new working gauges v1.3
#91

Maybe a dumb question, BUT....

How does a clickable cockpit work in IL2? I don't have a cursor to move over the guages unless the map is open.

As far as I can tell, they created a "centre" dot. That way they don't need a mouse cursor, as the middle of the screen behaves like it. They still need to find a way to activate the object that was in the centre of the view, but they got it working somehow. Only works in 2DoF, so I wouldn't sacrifice my 6DoF for it.

There'll come a time that you need to and then you'll be happy to be flying in a luxury office and not a grey cubicle. Wink

Hi
Great job, thank you.

Correct me if I am wrong. Is this cockipt clickable? If it does how can I use that method? What key do I have to press?

Thank you.

What about adding this update to the cockpit

No, it's not clickable. And update? Adding the K-14 Acemaker gunsight? I think that would be more for a separate mod. I would like to have the option myself, as I find the evidence that they were used in P-38s convincing. Even if some would consider it a field mod, IMHO that should be reason enough to have it as an option. Heck, we don't even have enough info on what the projected image of a Lynn Type-3 gunsight looks like, but we do know what the K-14 shows.

I think the cockpit needs, for the next stage, someone who can remap 2 textures. It looks like "canopyframe" texture has a strip of texture that was meant for the side windows... and the "oxygen" texture is oddly stretched, as I've shown in a brown-pink pattern on the bottom of page 3 of the "TLC" thread.

No proble, as long as people dish out great mods I'm happy to offer the kind comments

bigbossmalone Wrote:Slightky OT, but as i'm spending a fair bit of time in this cockpit now  , i've noticed that my cannon sounds for the P38 are really soft, like a distant 'poof-poof' sound, compared to the lovely chatter of the MG's. Any of you guys know which sound files i should look at to try and fix it up? :?:
I have the same problem.. But I didnt until after I installed Jafa's sound pack. On that note, the engine sound does not sound that different from the sound I had with the UI1.1. So not sure if the new allison file in Jafa's sound pack is that different from the one in the UI1.1. But somethind did change post Jafa's sound pack, now I can barly hear the .50s and 20mm.

Update..

I just turned OFF the EXTENTIONS in my IL2 sound menu and it made the guns sound alot better! And I can hear them now!

Don't tie yourself up by going too deep into the matter, as engine management is so basic anyway that one doesn't really need highly accurate temperatures. As long as the manifold, speed and altitude are close. Smile

I'll see that you get a link to a 30+MB pdf of the 38's manual too, when I get home.

JAMF, if you do not mind would be so kind as to provide me with a copy of that link also. I would appreciate it. Thank you.

Take care,
C2

JAMF, recieved link. Just downloaded. Thank you sir.

With cockpit lights OFF I see 4 gauges with lights ON, I looked throught all the pages but I seem to be the first one with this problem. I really don't know what causes this, so JAMF do you know what it can be?
