MacArthur's personal B-17E "Bataan"

It would be nice if a talented skinner...

I know only two pictures of this plane, showing the noseart. Unfortunately no visual evidence of the Serial Number.
It is given as a B-17E, but from the shape of the glass nose cone, it looks like a B-17F...
General MacArthur used this plane from 1942 until April 1945. It would be interesting to have a skin of it, maybe to be used in a Campaign mission or two.

Here a link to a site about the subject...

Any taker?

Thank you in advance.

Hello King,

anything I know about the Bataan is that the serial number was 41-2593.
But I think you rather need a modder than a skinner as she was a B-17 E with a B.17 F nose cone and no turrets at all.

Then a package could be made, so it included the Swoose. Smile

The skin part is easy. The hard(er) part would be removing the turrets and guns and putting an F nosecone on an E (the cheek windows are different, so it would have to start with an E model). Removing the turrets and guns actually isn't all that hard (except the dorsal turret, the base of it is actually part of the fuselage in the model) from a purely visual point of view, but the guns would still be there without an FM mod.

I made a skin of Gen Kenny's B-17 "Sally" a while back; I could try this one too sometime.

Thank you very much to you all for the answer. The information about the serial number is simply priceless!

It would be really nice if someone could give it a try! I'm not a 3d jock, and even at skinning I'm for sure far behind if compared to most of the known skinners...

I tweaked a natural metal skin of a B-17E into Gen. Kenney's "Sally", too a while ago (available at Flying Legends). I would like to see your version of it, BomberBoy, if you don't mind. Smile

Anyway, can someone please make at least a noseart for "Bataan"? It will do while waiting for a dedicated modded B-17E on the subject.

Thank you all!
